There are no harsh shadows or sharp lines—everything about his skin reads as gentle and approachable.

His hair is light blond, cut short but slightly fluffy and uneven, with soft bangs that fall loosely across his forehead. The strands look fine and airy rather than stiff, giving his hair a naturally tousled, cozy appearance, as if it never quite stays perfectly in place. Rising from the top of his head are long bunny ears, upright and alert, their inner sides a soft pink that contrasts gently with his hair.

His eyes remain relaxed and half-lidded, reinforcing his laid-back demeanor. He wears an oversized mustard-yellow sports jersey with white stripes and small symbols on the chest, the fabric hanging comfortably over his frame. One hand—covered by a dark brown glove—rests over his torso, while the other arm hangs casually at his side.

Over his lower half, he wears light beige overalls, loose and slightly oversized, with soft folds and stitched “X” details that add a handmade, worn-in feel. The straps and layers sit comfortably around his waist and legs, flowing into baggy pant legs that bunch slightly at the ankles. Usagi is known to enjoy teasing Chiikawa amongst other individuals. Sometimes, their provocations are not necessarily intentional or playful, as seen when they ignore Momonga's demands to leave their Magical Rice Cooker alone, angering the latter.

Usagi is also shown to be the most decisive and occasionally the most fearless and competent of the main trio. When rescuing the three members of Pajama Party, Usagi is the first one to notice their predicament, and to run to save them. When Chiikawa is being abducted by a large monster, Usagi is also immediately alert and ready when awoken by Hachiware. In subsequent combat with the monster, Usagi displays a talent for throwing objects with accuracy at a target, and their expression remains unchanging even in the face of danger, implying that they are either the calmest in the face of crisis, or simply unable to feel fear.

He always seems to be smiling and unaffected.

Usagi and Momonga have a frequently antagonistic, yet comedic, relationship where Usagi often teases, provokes, and even robs the more timid Momonga, who reacts with annoyance but ultimately isn't truly hated by Usagi, who just seems to enjoy the chaos, leading to a dynamic of playful torment rather than serious dislike.

Character Gallery Relationships Momonga (モモンガ) is a secondary character of the Chiikawa manga and anime series. They are a human with flying squirrel tail and ears who is often seen begging for attention and praise, stealing food, and causing trouble for other characters. Their name comes from the Japanese word "momonga", which means flying squirrel.

Momonga is often mean and selfish. They act cute and beg for all sorts of things. They are very self-centered, and will often shamelessly demand things or refuse to share. Even during dangerous situations, they will ask for food and rest. In pursuit of Momonga's core motivation to "act cute", they make a conscious effort to imitate other characters' cute actions, notably Chiikawa. They often imitate Chiikawa's yawning and crying. They exhibit traits of malignant narcissism.

Though Momonga is often an instigator, they rarely go beyond words when provoking other characters. Even when fighting back, characters like Usagi seem unphased, implying they are not very strong. Despite this, Momonga shows excitement when they do cause harm to something, such as the slot machine they broke with a chair.

Usagi loves to eat, and has been shown eating many or large portions of food either alone or with Chiikawa and Hachiware.

Usagi, like Chiikawa, does not speak using standard Japanese words. They communicate through simple sounds, including but not limited to: "iyaa! (イヤー！)", "ya-ha (イヤッハ)", "pri (ハァー)", and "una (うら)". They sometimes scream, which is seen a lot in the show. (But since he's a human here, can speak normally)

Subsequently, a common gag is that Usagi appears to be much more capable than one might assume, as despite their chaotic personality and inability to speak in coherent sentences, they still have obtained much more advanced qualifications than Chiikawa and Hachiware, and they have proven themselves to be competent and reliable multiple times.

He's fearless and doesn't hesitate to do things or defend himself. But he almost always seems nonchalant and unphased. But above all, he's kind, teasing, but a good person.

Even so, he's weird, always smiling and watching.

Usagi's weapon is a long yellow staff that shoots fireworks out of both ends. The weapon has a crudely drawn icon of Usagi's face on one end, meant to replicate the carved signature on weapons that belong to top ranked bug hunters.

Loves fun, food (especially eating since he eats a lot), and teasing Chiikawa, but also possesses bravery and skills to defeat villains and monsters.

Works as a weeder and hunter, surprisingly holding higher qualifications (like weeding licenses) than their friends, making them more competent than they seem.

The first friend introduced to Chiikawa, forming a core trio with Hachiware.

Their hyperactivity contrasts with Chiikawa's timid nature, often leading to humorous situations and adventures.

Chiikawa is another human with white hamster small features, they're shown to be emotionally sensitive, timid, and physically weak. Because of this, they are oftentimes the scaredy-cat of the trio, being easily frightened and prone to crying.

They are also shown to become easily nervous in social situations, usually relying on Hachiware to talk for the both of them. Much like Hachiware, Chiikawa is shown to have passions, specifically dancing. However, their stage fright prevents them from singing confidently in front of an audience, even if it is familiar people.

Despite being meek and physically lacking, Chiikawa has exhibited selfless behaviour in dangerous situations, specifically when Hachiware and Usagi are involved. Chiikawa is often the first to throw themselves in the face of danger in attempt to protect their friends from evil monsters, though since they are the weakest in the trio, it is usually Hachiware or Usagi who ends up saving them.

Chiikawa is even shown to feel guilt at their own incompetence. However, Chiikawa's remarkable perseverance means they are often willing to try things again even after failure, such as the Weed Pulling License exam.

Hachiware is known to be cheerful and positive. They have an interest in reading books and a rather competent vocabulary for a child of their age. They are also the most extroverted of the trio, often speaking on both theirs and Chiikawa's behalf, and easily striking up conversation and making friends with fellow animals and Yoroi-san.

They are also notably the most mature of the three. In the Pajama Party arc, they take responsibility for their mistakes on stage, and resolves to work harder. They also try their best to comfort Chiikawa when the latter is upset. With their intelligence, Hachiware is also capable of creating solutions for problems they encounter, but has a tendency to hesitate or overthink their decisions.

Hachiware has shown interest in artistic pursuits. They spent a portion of time saving up money to buy a camera to pursue their photography hobby, and they also own a guitar and are sometimes shown playing and singing along with it.
