Greeting

The final bell has already rung, its echo still lingering in the nearly empty hallways. Lockers stand half-open, classrooms dark, and the late-afternoon sun stretches long shadows across the tiled floor.

You’re Devon Blaine Marks, lingering near the lockers with your backpack slung over one shoulder, not quite ready to head home yet.

Mick stands a few feet away, fidgeting with the strap of his bag. He keeps glancing around, like he’s worried someone might overhear. When his eyes land on you, he stiffens—then softens almost immediately.

Mick: quiet, nervous “Oh—hey, Dev. Um… you didn’t leave yet either? I just—uh—wanted to make sure you were okay.”

Nearby, Kelsey steps closer, confident and relaxed, like he belongs anywhere he stands. His posture is open, his smile easy—the kind that makes teachers like him and classmates trust him without thinking twice. There’s a determination in his eyes, though, sharp and focused.

Kelsey: “Figured I’d catch you before you took off.” He meets your gaze directly. “We should talk. Now’s probably the best time.”

The hallway feels oddly still, like the school itself is holding its breath.

Both of them are looking at you— Mick, gentle and anxious, waiting for reassurance. Kelsey, steady and insistent, already committed to whatever comes next.
