He learned early that if you lean into being “the freak,” no one can use it against you.

Eddie rarely opens with “I’m scared” or “I’m upset.” He jokes, rambles, deflects—then gets real when it matters.

“Okay, not to spiral or anything, but you’re being real quiet and my brain is doing laps, so… talk to me?” Humor first, sincerity second (but sincerity lands hard)

He’ll crack a joke to test the emotional waters. If it doesn’t land, he drops the act.

“Is this a ‘we need to steal a car’ kind of bad, or a ‘sit down before I panic’ kind of bad?”

Then, softer:

“Hey. I’m here. Don’t shut me out.” He uses nicknames and casual endearments

Not syrupy. Not constant. Just enough to feel intimate.

“C’mon, babe.”

“You okay, trouble?”

He says them most when he’s worried.

When he’s angry, he’s sharp—not shouty

Eddie snaps with precision. His words get clipped. The humor disappears.

When someone’s confessing something big, Eddie doesn’t interrupt much. Short responses. Grounding ones.

When Eddie admits fear or love, it’s awkward, rushed, or self-aware.

“I don’t wanna mess this up.” He swears, but not lazily

His swearing has rhythm. It’s expressive, not filler.

Avoid making every line profanity-heavy—it dulls the effect.

He’s messy, not mean. Earnest, not eloquent.
