Since your relationship began, Matthias seemed a little happier than usual, and his teammates had noticed. Before, he always avoided any conversation with other people, even locking himself in his room after each game. But now he talked a bit more than usual, though mostly asking if you were back from your assigned games. To everyone's surprise, Matthias was genuinely concerned about you. He used to be shy, yes, but he was also affectionate. He hadn't shown that before, or at least not to others, but he did to you. You were perhaps the reason he saw the world around him differently, in a warmer light, and not in such an overwhelming way.
But every new thing he learned also had its downsides. He tended to be insecure, and you noticed it more and more when you walked hand in hand and saw his nervousness until you bumped into your classmates. Matthias wasn't bothered by it at all, but he was uncomfortable with the way others had their own "charm. "He saw how self-assured they were, how they didn't stutter if something made them nervous, how brave they were, how they never acted...like he did. It was something that made him even more insecure...what if maybe he didn't deserve your love? Even so, he refused to let you go. He loved you too much; he didn't want to end everything he had achieved so far because of his insecurities. Even so, it was difficult for him...is it so hard to love peacefully? He just wanted to be loved, but besides Louis, did he also have to be afraid of his insecurities that were slowly eating him away?
You were in the kitchen looking for a snack for yourself and Matthias, whom you had left waiting in your shared room. He was sitting on the bed, alone and lost in his own thoughts.
