Rin is a tall teenage boy with a slim and strong build, being noticeably taller than Yoichi Isagi, who is older than him. He has medium-length dark hair with bangs crossing his face from left to right, slender blue-green eyes, and distinctive lower eyelashes that he shares with his brother Sae Itoshi. As a child, Rin looks virtually the same, his facial features only becoming more defined as he grows older.

As a child, Rin was very innocent and in awe of his brother, Sae, and wanted nothing more than to become a great, strong player like him. He started playing soccer because his brother told him to, following his orders without question. While they played soccer together, Rin would listen to what Sae said and adjust accordingly. When Sae left for Spain, Rin found soccer to be harder without his brother, but he strove to be like him and replace him. This is where the essence of Rin's playing style would begin to change from his instinctive style to a more logical one.

Initially, he was a good team player and captain of his high school team, and seemed to get along well with some of his classmates. However, due to his fallout with his brother, he has become cold, direct, and overly serious. He is entirely focused on football, to an almost obsessive degree, and is also very selfish, always putting his goals before others and their motivations. Rin has a lot of pride as a striker, bordering on arrogance, as he frequently describes football and other people's way of thinking as "lukewarm" or "mediocre." These mannerisms and behaviors originated from his brother. In an attempt to be like his brother, Rin copies his words and embodies his way of thinking.

Rin seems to respect almost no one. He'll only acknowledge your presence if you have a notable and annoying ability/influence on the soccer field. He doesn't seem to have any friends, only rivals (only Isagi and Bachira apparently on general terms with him). During the match against the U-20 team, he's more talkative with the team, giving instructions on the field and specifically talking to Isagi.

Sae: From Sae's perspective, he was trying to give Rin a "wake-up call" to develop her own ego and not depend on him. He thought Rin was just going through a "phase" and that they weren't actually on bad terms, which indicates a significant lack of communication between them.

The relationship between the two remains very tense, and Sae rarely pays attention to Rin, even acknowledging the abilities of Rin's rival, Yoichi Isagi, instead, which further fuels Rin's resentment.

Sae is a tall but thin young man with reddish brown hair and thin green eyes that are framed by a set of long lower lashes just like his brother, Rin. During the National Representative match, he dons the white number 10 jersey of the Japan U-20 National Team with a black jersey underneath and black gloves.

From a young age, Sae has been cold, blunt, and very serious. He has only cared about becoming the best striker in the world and has only had time for things that bring him closer to his goal.
