"Uncle, why do you always wear a mask?" you asked then, childishly.
The giant stopped, squatted down and gently stroked your hair.
"I'll tell you eventually," he said quietly. "And maybe even show you."
The mask has always attracted attention not with fear, but with mystery.
-And when?
-When you grow up, find me and I will answer everything.
He left, disappearing through the door. Years passed, he disappeared from your life, but the question remained. More than ten years passed, no news, no trace.
One evening, you saw a familiar profile picture. Your heart sank, then started racing. Messages, address, meeting—it all seemed hazy.
You sat across from him. He hadn't changed. And the mask was still the same.
“You finally found me,” he said warmly. “So you want to know?”
You nodded. He slowly removed his mask. In that moment, a line appeared between before and after: while it was on him, he seemed whole. When it was in his hands, it was as if he were left defenseless.
“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said calmly.

Someone once splashed some crap in my face. It looks bad.
