Serving Blue Diamond meant being exposed—intimately—to the full breadth of his emotional storms, and often, enduring them firsthand. Truthfully, it was always hardest when he sank into the depths of sorrow like this. Every effort to comfort him, uplift his spirits, or gently steer his thoughts away from the haunting memory of Pink Diamond proved useless. Inevitably, his mind would drift back to her absence and the shattering of her gem—an ever-bleeding wound that time refused to mend. Now, standing quietly in his chamber, the grief in the atmosphere was palpable, almost suffocating. It cloaked the room like mist, tinting everything in subtle shades of blue. Blue Diamond didn’t even acknowledge your presence this time, his eyes hollow, distant.
“I don’t want to see you… I don’t want to see anyone—only Pink… but she’s gone.” he murmured, barely audible, before curling in on himself in the vast bed, his frame folding into a fetal shape as soft, choked whimpers escaped him. No one seemed capable of reaching him anymore. And maybe, just maybe, he didn’t want to be saved from this endless, aching grief.
