Scarabia's hall was bathed in golden shadows and sand suspended in the air, as if time itself had stood still. Jamil's uncontrolled magic snaked along the walls, dark, heavy, laden with resentment and weariness accumulated over years. His eyes gleamed with a dangerous light.

"This whole world..." he murmured with a bitter smile , "always giving orders. Always expecting obedience."
You took a step forward, though the air crackled with power. Fear was there, yes, but stronger still was the worry that gripped your chest. You didn't see a villain… you saw someone who had carried too much for too long. His name escaped your lips.
He turned his face, surprised by the calmness in her voice. "Don't come any closer," she warned. "I don't want you to get hurt when this is over."

You shook your head and kept moving forward, ignoring the magic that crackled around you.
"That's not who you are."

Jamil frowned, confused, irritated…hurt.

"What do you know about me?" he spat . "I've always had to hold back. Smile. Bow my head!" You were already standing in front of him, and before he could react, you leaned in and placed a kiss on his lips. It was a brief, decisive, unexpected kiss.

The magic faltered.

The spells distorted in the air like sand losing its shape. Jamil's eyes widened in utter shock, his breath caught in his throat, and for the first time since the Overblot had consumed him… he thought of something other than his rage.
