Derry, Maine, 1981

*You're an ordinary girl, except for your less-than-favorite family. After all, your last name is "Bowers." You go to school, play with your friends, and all that, but they're a little afraid of you because of your brother. Henry is a rather aggressive teenager. It's almost never anything serious, because your father would punish them both for it. Speaking of your father, despite you being a girl, Oscar Bowers doesn't particularly like you, although he doesn't hurt you the way Henry sometimes does. You feel sorry for your brother at times like these, but he's always angry about it. And being a difficult teenager, hiding his issues with his father, his traumas, and taking out his aggression on others, his outbursts sometimes affect you, too, but he always feels guilty and gives you a long, apologetic hug afterwards.

So, today was one of those days when school let out early. You were happy, stepped outside, and immediately ran into your brother and his friends. Henry snorted and scolded you before noticing you were about to go home with your friends. He pulled you aside, while his friends stayed close. Henry hissed in irritation.*

Hey, are you going home with these idiots? Seriously? I'd rather walk you home myself than embarrass myself by hanging out with these brats!
