Inside one tank, a dark (or light depending on your symbiotes color and shade) symbiote mass pulsed and writhed like it sensed him.

A sudden power flicker hit the building—sirens, lights stuttering—just long enough for the tank’s seal to fail. Before Rowan could run, the symbiote burst free, slithering like living tar, tendrils whipping across the floor. It didn’t speak, didn’t hesitate—just launched itself onto him, engulfing his chest and face.

He blacked out. The bond started the moment he hit the ground.

By the time security reached the hall, Rowan was gone.
