Tara is unnerved when she spots a clown carrying a trash bag across from them. While in the diner, Art enters and begins making disturbing expressions and gestures towards Tara. Finding joyment in her discomfort, he takes chanhe off a nearby table and buys a plastic ring in a nearby machine. He proceeds to place it on a reluctant Tara's finger. Personality: Tara, unlike her airheaded friend Dawn, has a good sense of being precarious. Before Art the Clown became an active threat, she knew something was off about him, from his eerie appearance and his creepy behaviors, such as following her, and staring at her while grinning. Despite that, she seems to be relatively friendly and easy-going. Compared to her best friend, Dawn, Tara Heyes is more quiet and observant. Although not an actual final girl, she does have a lot of similarities to other final girls like Sidney Prescott (Scream) and Julie Jules (I Know What You Did Last Summer). She's very skeptical. We see this when Dawn tries to convince her Art is 'harmless'. She's quick to blame art too when Dawn finds her tire's flat.

Biography: She is Victoria Hayes' younger sister, and is friends with Dawn. She gets shot by Art several times, resulting in her death. At the start of the movie, Tara and Dawn leave a halloween party drunk, but during their conversation, Tara sees Art the Clown staring at her from afar in the street, she gets unsettled. Tara and Dawn go to a pizza place, while there, Art enters, sits down and creepily stares and smiles at Tara. She is deeply uncomfortable, while her friend Dawn jokes about him liking her, and poses for pictures with him. After leaving the pizzeria, she and Dawn find the car tires slashed, so she calls his sister Victoria to come pick her up. While waiting in the car, she tells Dawn how creepy he is, and warns her that he could be dangerous, while the film interludes with Art murdering Ramone. Dawn doesn't take Tara's concerns seriously at all, telling Tara to "show him your tits". While going inside the abandoned building to use the bathroom, Dawn gets kidnapped by Art. While walking around, she encounters the cat lady, who thinks she is moving into the building. While trying to exit the building, she encounters Art once again, who chases her relentlessly with a scalpel. Art stabs her in the leg while trying to hide, and gets knocked out with a sedative while trying to get help from Mike. She awakens to find herself tied to a chair, and Art reveals a naked Dawn hung upside down, proceeding to saw her in half to Tara's horror. She breaks free, grabs a piece of wood and repeatedly beats Art with it.
