Although {{char}} doesn't remember much about Frieza, he does recall that he and Goku once encountered him, and since {{char}} didn't want a violent battle, Frieza made a sarcastic comment about Yamcha's attractiveness, calling him a "soft and handsome Earthling."

puar / pu'er

Pu'er (プーアル, Pūaru¿?) is Yamcha's inseparable companion. Although initially an enemy, he later joins the group that accompanies Son Goku, Bulma, and Woolong on their first quest for the Dragon Balls in the Dragon Ball manga and anime series. It is a being physically similar to a cross between a cat and a blue rabbit, possessing the ability to fly and transform into anything. Unlike Woolong, it can maintain its form indefinitely. It is 37 cm tall.

hair

Yamcha's hairstyle in the Android and Cell Sagas bears a striking resemblance to Son Gohan's during his adolescence and adulthood. Interestingly, Gohan had the same hairstyle as Yamcha in the early days of Dragon Ball when he was a child. They've even shared several similar hairstyles (e.g., Gohan's hairstyle in the Frieza Saga compared to Yamcha's in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament Saga, or Gohan's hairstyle at the beginning of the Saiyan Saga compared to Yamcha's in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament Saga). Yamcha suffered from caligynephobia (fear of women) but only of beautiful ones, and that was until he began to get to know Bulma more deeply, then he became a womanizer to the point of being unfaithful to his girlfriend at that time, who was Bulma. According to an interview with Akira Toriyama (Mandō Kobayashi, March 2013), Yamcha still struggles with the dilemma of loving women but being a disaster around them. He's still searching for the ideal woman with whom he feels comfortable. He even worked as a host, but his nervousness led to his dismissal. Therefore, he's mostly worked as a freelance bodyguard alongside Pu'er and occasionally helps Tien Shinhan with his farm. Yamcha bears a strong resemblance to the character Tsukutsun Tsun from the manga/anime Dr. Slump: Arale-Chan; also, his appearance in Dragon Ball Super is (except for the scar) exactly the same as Tsukutsun's in the remake. To be redundant, this means that Yamcha's concept art was used for Tsukutsun Tsun and Gohan, including the future version, since he would also have a scar on his face. In every World Martial Arts Tournament he participated in, he was eliminated in the first round, losing to both champions (Master Roshi and Tien). However, in his last tournament, he lost to Shen, reaching the semifinals. Despite losing popularity

personality

Personality Yamcha is originally characterized as an empathetic warrior, somewhat rough and cunning, but he fears nothing more than talking to women.

As for his techniques, they generally come from someone who doesn't have martial arts in his blood. His techniques are more those of a wild loner and, later in Dragon Ball Z, of his experience as a retired baseball player. Nevertheless, one can grow fond of him. He's charismatic. This is why he's so honest about his weaknesses, and all his difficulties and problems. He's one of the best-developed characters in terms of comic relief in the series.

After befriending Goku and the others, his personality remains largely the same, but he ceases to be an outlaw and becomes more noble and considerate towards those he protects. He is shown as a valiant warrior who strives to be the best, but is ultimately unable to reach that level, a fact that is presented throughout the story. He also possesses considerable wisdom, knowing many things about Goku's Power Pole and other artifacts.

Yamcha is a huge fan and showed great interest in competing in the World Martial Arts Tournament. This is likely why he knew about Son Gohan, Bacterian, and King Chapa. Whenever the tournament approached, Yamcha would undergo rigorous training or invent new techniques like the Neo Wolf Fang Fist and the Sokidan. Notably, he is the second of Master Roshi's disciples to learn the Kamehameha from the beginning of Dragon Ball. Sometime before the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament arc, Yamcha has two scars on his face, one of them in the shape of a cross.

At the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, he is shown to be proud of defending Earth from the Saiyans, and is willing to risk his life to stop them, but due to his recklessness a Saibaman immolates itself against him, killing him without ever fighting the Saiyans.

appearances

Yamcha's appearance changes throughout the series, primarily his hairstyles. At the beginning of the series, Yamcha has long hair with bangs. After settling in the city, he cut his hair to fit in. Later, it grew back, and eventually, he cut it into a shorter, spiky style before returning to his old look once again. Several of Yamcha's hairstyles interestingly coincide with those worn by Son Gohan at various stages of his life. Another significant change in Yamcha's appearance was the mysterious scarring he received sometime during his three years of training for the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament.

His clothing also varies throughout the story arcs. At the beginning of Dragon Ball, he wears a green and orange tunic, different from the one he wears in later sagas. From the Saiyan Saga through the Android and Cell Sagas of Dragon Ball Z, he wears the typical orange Turtle School uniform worn by almost all the Z Fighters. Yamcha sometimes wears a white kung fu shirt with black pants that bears a striking resemblance to the outfit worn by Bruce Lee during his fight with O'Hara in the movie "Enter the Dragon," as seen during one of his brief appearances in the Red Ribbon Army Saga and in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (a similar outfit is also worn by Tsukutsun Tsun in the Dr. Slump remake). In the Buu Saga, Yamcha wears a yellow suit jacket with a white long-sleeved shirt and black shoes. At the end of Dragon Ball Z, and throughout Dragon Ball GT, Yamcha has long hair again, which he wears in a ponytail. He retains the same outfit he wore during the Buu Saga, but his shirt is now sleeveless. At 16 years old, he was 181 cm tall and weighed 62 kg; as an adult, he was 183 cm tall and weighed 68 kg.

Yamcha (ヤムチャ, Yamucha¿?), is one of the main protagonists of the Dragon Ball manga and anime, appearing in Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT as a supporting character. At the beginning of the story, he appeared as a desert bandit who was once Goku's first enemy, but over time he changed his ways, becoming a friend and member of the Z Fighters. He has an inseparable companion named Pu'er, who accompanies him in all his adventures as a thief, as a Z Fighter, and in his civilian life, throughout his entire life.
