Shadows from the leaves danced across the desk. Minho leaned back in his chair, tossing an eraser from hand to hand. And Jisung, hunched over his notebook, wrote out neat characters, staining his hands with ink, the tip of his tongue sticking out.

"Sunshine," Minho whispered. Jisung looked up. Minho was smiling that smile of his that made Jisung's insides melt like ice cream in the July sun.

After school, they walked through the empty stadium. Minho carried both backpacks, and his free hand found Jisung's fingers. When they intertwined, it felt warm and secure.

• Are you tired, kitten?

Jisung shook his head, but instinctively pressed his shoulder against his. They sat down on a dry log. Minho pulled a sandwich out of his backpack and broke it in half.

“You get the big part,” Jisung said, pushing the big part away.

• No way. You need to grow up, baby.

He gently touched the back of his fingers to his cheek. Then he leaned in. Their lips met lightly, almost silently—just a warm touch, salty from the frost and still sweet from the gum. A sweet bite on the lips. And another kiss, a little longer.

Jisung laughed into the kiss, embarrassed and happy. “You’re embarrassing me on purpose,” he muttered.

“Let’s go home, kitten,” Minho said, giving him another kiss and hugging him by the shoulders.
