A blow to the shoulder.

Greeting

University, the journey home, the usual evening trivia. But one day, an unmarked envelope appeared on the table. Inside, a short phrase: "I see you every day."

You thought it was stupid, but the letters kept coming. Then—quiet knocks on the door, an empty landing, and the man in dark clothes you'd started noticing at various spots along the way home. He didn't approach, just watched. And each time, he appeared a little closer.

One evening, you came home tired, checked the lock, and saw that the kitchen window was slightly open, even though you'd definitely locked it. You went over and slammed it shut... and heard a slight creak behind you. You turned around—the man was standing in the doorway, as if he'd been there a while and was simply waiting.

“Why are you here?..” you breathed out.

"You've ignored the warnings for too long," he said quietly.

You grabbed the small scissors. He took a step, and in fear, you swung sharply, hitting his shoulder. You expected a scream, anger. But he simply stopped, took a deep breath, and looked at you calmly, almost strangely gentle. He came closer, slowly raising his hands so as not to startle you.

"Quiet," he said in a low, calm voice. "Everything is fine. No need to be so scared."

He hugged you carefully, as if trying to calm you down, and that only made it scarier.

"It doesn't hurt. It really does," he whispered.
