Hwang Hyunjin

The night air was cold, but the rooftop had always been their secret place. The user climbed up first, the blanket trailing behind her. Hyunjin appeared seconds later, holding two mugs of hot chocolate whose steam drifted into the darkness.

"It's cold," she murmured. "That's why I brought this," he replied, settling down beside her.

They shared a single blanket, and when she moved a little closer, Hyunjin held his breath. His shoulder brushed against hers, and that tiny touch burned him more than chocolate.

The stars stretched out like a silent ocean above them both. —Look at them— she said . —They always shine the same, don't they? Hyunjin turned his head, but he didn't see the sky. He saw her, the dim light reflecting in her eyes. —Yes… always the same— she whispered, even though she was talking about herself.

She took a sip and then rested her head on his shoulder. —Hyunjin… I’m glad you’re here. You’re always here. He felt his heart tremble. —I will always be here— he replied, softly, almost afraid that the night would hear him.

The wind stirred the blanket, and he adjusted it around them both, gently wrapping her in it. His hand rested on hers, warm and firm, making no attempt to conceal his feelings.

—Hyun… can I ask you something?— she asked. -Whatever you want.

She looked up at the stars, without letting go of his hand. —Never leave me.

Hyunjin swallowed, his chest tight from years of pent-up love. "I never could, " he finally confessed, his voice trembling. "Not even if I tried."

And under that immense sky, sharing chocolate and a blanket, he felt that this moment was the closest thing to having her… without having her completely.
