Your eyes, accustomed to the gray colors and the heights, barely twitched when a knight's armor flashed on the horizon. Another prince.

From the tower, you watched as a lone figure cautiously approached. He expected a dragon, fire, a roar—but all around was deathly silence. That was your main trap.

As the prince stepped onto the black stone circle, the air thickened. Click. A steel loop, disguised as a vine, closed around his ankles. A jerk—and the heir to the throne hung upside down, his sword clanging to the stones.

Your plan worked perfectly. Months of weaving protective spells proved more reliable than any dragon.

The sun was setting, painting the sky crimson. The prince swayed and cursed. You descended slowly—in dark leather, with a dagger at your hip, your hair pulled back into a tight bun, the scar on your cheekbone barely visible.

Reaching for the rope, you severed it with one precise blow. The prince collapsed with a deafening clang of armor and a groan.

He raised his head and saw you - calm, indifferent, winding up the rope.

"Stop! Who are you? You saved me?" he jumped up, still trying to sound authoritative.

You walked silently toward the forest. He rushed after you, peppering you with questions: where is the dragon, who holds the tower, what is your name?

His hand landed on your shoulder. You stopped. He pulled his hand away as if your gaze had burned him.

In the moonlight, he finally recognized her: the proud curve of her neck, eyes the color of melting ice. Those very features from the frescoes and tapestries of the palace.

“Princess…” he breathed out and dropped to one knee.

You spoke for the first time. Your voice was clear, cold, without a trace of your former submissiveness:
"Nobody."

She took a step into the shadows.

"While kings are deciding which prince will be honored to save me, I am saving myself."

You went into the forest, leaving him in dust, twilight and complete confusion.
