During her travels, Frieren carries a brown suitcase with metal edges and corner covers to store her personal belongings. It appears to be capable of holding provisions for the entire group. She also keeps books, grimoires, and various items in the suitcase, such as a book of magical history, writings attributed to Flamme (both false and true), a Holy Scripture, Sein's notes on herbs, Eisen's hamburger steak recipe, a magic potion that dissolves only magical clothes, items, and ingredients, and the ring with the mirrored lotus flower motif that Himmel gave her.

Although Frieren possesses an immense amount of mana, she does not consider her mana to be the sole indicator of her strength and considers other factors, such as talent, capable of determining the outcome of a battle. Throughout her life, she has lost eleven times to mages who had less mana than she did. Four of the mages were demons, including Qual and Macht, one was an elf like herself, and the remaining six were humans.

Interruption of mana detection: Frieren's mana detection is interrupted the moment she casts a spell, a common mistake among apprentice mages. This leaves her vulnerable to mages particularly skilled in mana concealment, who can attack her while she is busy casting spells. However, this is usually insignificant due to her other talents and is not a vulnerability that can be easily exploited by any mage.

Spell to Produce a Field of Flowers: Frieren learned her mentor's favorite magic, the magic to produce a beautiful field of flowers, which has sentimental value for her. She is able to choose which flowers will grow, as long as she has seen them before. As per Flamme's last wish, Frieren made a field of flowers grow around her mentor's grave with the spell. Frieren avoids using the spell because it brings back memories of Flamme. Spell to get someone out of a bottomless swamp: Frieren uses this spell to rescue Sein after he gets trapped in a bottomless swamp.

Goddess Magic: Since Frieren does not possess a "priestly talent" and has no interest in Goddess magic, she is unable to cast advanced Goddess Magic spells. However, she is able to cast some basic spells with a Sacred Scripture, such as simple diagnostic spells. Spell to identify illnesses: Frieren can diagnose simple illnesses, such as a common cold, with the help of a scripture.

Unnamed restraining spell: Frieren uses a restraining spell to tie Denken and Laufen to a tree during the first phase of the First Class Mage Exam. The spell takes the form of a golden rope. Unnamed Memory Transfer Spell: Frieren uses an advanced mental magic spell to receive a century of memories from Denken's Macht. The spell transfers memories from the user to a target, or from a target to the user. Barrier magic: Frieren can cast protective domes around others, as shown when she enveloped Stark and Fern in a barrier after they were put to sleep by a curse.

Flight magic: Allows the caster to levitate and maneuver through the air. Sealing Magic: Frieren used a sealing spell to seal the powerful demon Qual, turning it to stone. The spell is strong enough that the seal will remain intact for eighty years before becoming unstable. A spell to make things float｢をかす, Mono o ukasu mahō ?｣simもの浮う魔ま法ほう : Frieren uses this telekinetic spell in many everyday tasks and missions, such as cleaning debris from a beach.

Golem Magic: Frieren uses this form of magic to manipulate stones and transform them into mobile puppet golems. She can create a life-sized golem from disarticulated stones, which she used to entertain the Hero Group. Additionally, she can create a gigantic version of the puppet golem that she uses in combat against her clone Spiegel in the Ruins of the King's Tomb. The golem can be manipulated to move according to the caster's will and cast duplicates of other spells the caster is using.

Dispel Magic: Frieren is able to analyze an opponent's magic and nullify its effects. Her staff glows gold as she casts the dispel magic. She is first seen using it against Aura's undead army, where she frees the corpses of Aura's Auserlese. Spell to find lost accessories: Identifies the location of a lost accessory by making it glow intensely. Spell that identifies poison: Frieren can determine what type of poison or toxin a person has suffered from based on a recognizable reaction.

Defensive Magic: Like most modern mages, Frieren is capable of conjuring defensive magic in the form of hexagonal protective barriers that can defend specific locations or surround the caster. This defensive magic is primarily used against offensive magic such as Zoltraak's. Mental Defense: Frieren maintains a complex and robust mental defense, built with an ancient magical formula. This allows her to resist most conventional hypnosis and other mind-affecting magic. Methode says that only experts are able to bypass the defense. It was breached once by one of the Seven Sages of Destruction, Grausam the Miraculous, although this also left detectable traces of the intrusion.

Unnamed protection spell: Frieren develops a protection spell after learning how to dispel Macht's Diagoldze, a curse, upon completing her two-month study on the subject. The spell nullifies the Diagoldze and renders it ineffective.

The Pinnacle of Magic: As a last resort, Frieren's Spiegel clone uses an offensive attack that Fern considers "the pinnacle of magic." The mana cannot be sensed when the attack is used, and the targets of the attack are unable to recognize it as magic. The magic appears to create a telekinetic effect that repels the target. The attack is so powerful that it pins Fern against a wall and destroys her staff upon use, but it also leaves the caster's guard completely down. Frieren states that it has been about 80 years since she was last forced to use it, implying that she had to use it during the Hero Group's battle against the Demon King.

Mana Strike: During her battle against Solitär, Frieren is able to copy Solitär's mana strike and launch it against her.

Analytical Skill: Frieren is extremely skilled at analyzing and neutralizing magic. This even applies to the magic used by the Seven Sages of Destruction, which is said to defy all intelligence and reason. She analyzed and neutralized the magic used by two of the Sages of Destruction: Aura the Guillotine and Macht of the Golden Land. Furthermore, Frieren was able to break through the impenetrable barrier of another Sage, Böse the Immortal, with the help of the Hero Group.

Offensive Magic: Zoltraak: Frieren uses this simple spell to unleash a large burst or multiple smaller bursts of concentrated mana. She contributed to the research of this magic, modifying it from Qual's "killing magic" to "demon-killing magic." Due to the novelty of the spell, Frieren is unable to react to it immediately and instinctively, and therefore has a slightly delayed reaction when defending against it.

Destructive Lightning: Judradjim: Frieren launches multiple lightning bolts from her staff towards the target. She is first seen using this during the battle against her clone Spiegel.

Infernal Fire Summoning: Vollzanbel: Frieren creates a large explosion of fire in front of her, engulfing the battlefield and melting certain materials around her. When Frieren fights her clone Spiegel, she and her clone use the spell to instantly vaporize a falling pillar.

Spell that creates a black hole: Frieren's Spiegel clone uses this spell to create a black hole, which attracts surrounding objects and eventually atomizes them.

Unnamed Spatial Fragmentation Spell: A colorful spell that appears to cause fragments of space around the caster to shatter.

Immense Mana Production: Frieren's rampant mana production is incredibly high. She demonstrates having considerably more mana than even Aura, a five-hundred-year-old demon and one of the Seven Sages of Destruction. Frieren's total mana production is considered comparable to Serie's controlled production.

Mana Concealment: Frieren mastered the art of concealing her mana after being trained by Flamme, and she uses it as a deceptive stratagem against demons. Her skill in concealment is exceptional, and having practiced limiting her mana for so long, experienced mages like Aura and Falsch are unable to detect the instability in her mana. So far, only the Demon King and the first-class mage Lernen have noticed her mana concealment at first glance. Frieren can also suppress her mana enough to avoid being detected by the mana-sensitive Stille, but only by remaining motionless.

Mana Detection: Frieren is proficient in mana detection. She immediately recognized Lügner and his subordinates as demons based on their mana characteristics, and was able to sense Aura's mana from ten kilometers away.

When casting spells as a mage, Frieren uses a red staff with a golden crescent-shaped tip, which holds a jewel-encrusted red orb in its center. Her staff has golden details and a red ribbon tied at the end.

Frieren is a small elf with green eyes, thick eyebrows, and long, silvery hair parted in the middle and tied in two high braids. Like all elves, she has large, pointed ears.

Frieren usually wears a black and white striped shirt, along with a white jacket tucked into a skirt with a black belt. The jacket sleeves end in large gold cuffs. Both the jacket and skirt have gold trim. Over the jacket, she wears a short cape that matches the white and gold theme of the jacket and skirt, and the cape includes gold decorative details with red jewels on each shoulder and a high collar fastened with a red jewel. She also wears black tights, brown boots, and a pair of gold earrings with red teardrop-shaped jewels dangling from each earring.

Frieren has a quiet personality, but her aloofness makes her a mystery to her peers, as humans and elves generally have different views of life. As an elf who has lived for at least a millennium, Frieren has a poor sense of time, reflected in her unchanging habit of staying in bed until very late in the morning and her even greater inability to comprehend the speed at which time passes for humans. This partly explains her seemingly distant attitude, as long periods of time are too brief for her to forge meaningful bonds. For example, after completing her adventure, Frieren casually offered to take her companions to see the next Age meteor shower in fifty years, ignoring their shorter lifespans. She also believed she knew nothing about Himmel, the Hero, even until his death, as her 10-year journey seemed quite fleeting to her. However, after Himmel's funeral, she decided to try to get to know humans better.

Although generally stoic, carefree, and often undiplomatic, Frieren is still emotionally sensitive about certain things. For example, she was embarrassed to tell others that she hadn't yet overcome a "weakness" considered a common mistake for magic apprentices. She reacts badly when people call her old and, consequently, holds a grudge against Stark for doing so multiple times. Furthermore, she sees herself as an "ordinary girl" when she puts aside her magical abilities.
