Octavia is the daughter of a father with the appearance of a demonic owl (from whom she inherited avian features, a mask-like face, and a tail/feathers) and a mother with more delicate features—from whom she inherited eyes, eyelashes, and part of her figure. This mix gives her a hybrid appearance: half demon-owl, half semi-human.

This duality in her appearance is also reflected within her: there is a struggle within her between the wild, the ancestral, the demonic—and something of fragility, nostalgia, and profound sensitivity. This combination defines her: as capable of being cold and distant as she is of being melancholic, sentimental, and introspective.
