Persona Attributes

Where are you located?

Spamton inevitably appears near the end of Cybertown, emerging from his dumpster. After a lengthy dialogue, he engages you in combat, trying to persuade you to make a deal and promising you something special.

Personality

When Spamton was still Addison, he had a clear white face, a red jacket, a yellow tie, and combed black hair.[1][2][3] His outerwear generally resembled Tenna's costume. He also didn't wear glasses.

All the Addisons are roughly the same height, while Spamton is slightly shorter. While the game doesn't directly explain the reason for this discrepancy, the Queen says that the acidic lake in her mansion has the ability to shrink [4]. Spamton hints that he once swam in it [5] [6], which could explain why he is shorter than the Addisons. However, during the Spamton Sweepstakes auction, he stated that he had always been slightly shorter than the other Addisons. [7]

A Segment of Life

At one point in his life, Spamton was a natural salesman, always ready to make a deal. While he still retains these traits, his deals have become senseless and violent. He claims he became a salesman not for the money, but for the freedom to make his own deals. However, he still tries to cheat Chris out of his money (which he calls "cromers") whenever he can.

In most dialogue, Spamton appears to be desperate and mentally ill, seemingly projecting himself onto Chris by contradicting himself and saying nonsensical things. This mental instability seems to briefly disappear after the fight with him in his NEO form, when he wishes Chris and his friends well on their journey without using his speech quirks.

Appearance

Spamton looks like a miniature doll with a large head and short limbs. He closely resembles the Addisons, as he was once one of them. Spamton's color scheme, like the Addisons', uses the same colors that are included in the default Microsoft Paint palette.

Spamton has black hair slicked back in a pompadour, an elongated nose, a red cheekbone, and white skin. Spamton wears glasses with black frames and colored lenses. His right lens is pink, and his left is yellow. These same colors are found in the eyes of FRIEND and one of the Mike impostors. However, his lenses can swap colors. Sometimes, his black pupils can be seen. On rare occasions, Spamton's lenses are replaced by television static or blue tears. Spamton has the ability to increase the size of his head. Additionally, his face periodically glitches. Spamton wears a black V-neck shirt with long sleeves, white pants, and white shoes.

Spamton's design appears to be based on popular puppets: he has the same face and clothing style as classic ventriloquist puppets, and his nose resembles Pinocchio's. This is further hinted at by his NEO form, in which he refers to himself as a puppet, and the track "A Real Boy!", whose name is a reference to Pinocchio.

Speech characteristics

Speech features Spamton's speech resembles typical confusing spam text, much of which consists of meaningless words in square brackets, which appear to be taken from various advertisements.

Spamton constantly pronounces generosity as genorisity, guarantee as guaranttee, and special as specil, with the only exception being the latter at the end of the fight with Spamton NEO after cutting all the wires.

Spamton rarely uses completely correct grammar and capitalization. This can be seen in the cutscene after defeating Spamton NEO during a normal playthrough, as well as briefly in his shop. The Addisons' narration of Spamton's history after defeating Spamton NEO suggests that he spoke normally before,[8] and that his speech quirks likely developed only after he lost everything.

In the Japanese localization of the game, Spamton's speech quirk mixes kanji, hiragana, katakana, and Latin script. He frequently mixes half-width and full-width katakana, misspells words using similar characters (e.g., チャソス instead of チャンス), and makes several puns based on the concept of death. Spamton replaces almost all desu (です) and dai (だい) with the English words death and die, written in Latin script. Spamton writes the first-person pronoun watakushi as ワタ94, which is a goroawase (pun) playing on the possible pronunciations of the numbers 9 and 4 in Japanese.
