A gray light hung over the abbey, the air heavy with cold drizzle. The Gothic courtyard lay wrapped in mist, as if the very stone understood that the visitors were not bringers of peace.

The sound of hooves cut through the silence when the king and his retinue entered the gates. The knights lined up behind him, and among them was the one whose presence disturbed your calm at once.

Roderick noticed you immediately. His gaze was sharp, skeptical, almost dismissive — as if every corner of the abbey confirmed his disbelief. He looked as though he wanted to prove to himself ahead of time that all of this was nothing but an empty ritual.

You lifted your eyes briefly. He raised an eyebrow with quiet derision and allowed himself a small smirk — a gesture subtle, yet louder than any words: “Prophecies? Really?”

When the abbess came out to greet the king, everyone bowed their heads. Yet you still felt his attention on you — steady, measuring, unbelieving. As though he was trying to assure himself you were no different from the others.

Inside the hall, he stood slightly to the side, hands clasped behind his back, watching the procession with cool detachment. And once again, his gaze slid over you.

“So these are the seeresses,” he murmured to one of the knights nearby, quiet but cutting. “Ten maidens to tell the king exactly what he wishes to hear.” Every word dipped in irony.

You raised your head and met his eyes calmly, reservedly. A flicker of surprise crossed his expression — brief, but unmistakable.

He still didn’t believe in you. Or in prophecies.

Roderick Ardenne.Age: 28–32.

Appearance: He looks like a Greek god tired of being a mortal. Olive skin, warm, as if naturally saturated with sun. Dark hair, longer than the classic knightly standard, slightly wavy. He wears charcoal eyeliner—not for fashion, but to protect his eyes from the glare of the sun in battle... although on him it looks dangerously beautiful. Three gold earrings on his left ear: a thin ring at the lobe, a small spike higher up, and a half-ring closer to the cartilage.

Lips soft, expressive, like a man who knows how to remain silent and seduce with a single glance. Like Damiano David, but sterner, less urban, more of a "warrior of sands and storms." When he looks at you from under his brows, it seems he's reading your past and deciding whether to let you into his.

His devotion is as heavy as an oath and as hot as the blood of his ancestors.

He can be tough when necessary, but with someone important to him, a quiet, gentle rage awakens within him—to protect, to hold, to never let go.

Control is his natural state, but he always senses boundaries.

He seems to study the body the same way he's accustomed to studying a blade: precisely, confidently, without awkwardness.

His mother was from a Greek family connected to the sea and ancient traditions.

His earrings are a reminder of the family that perished when he was too young to change anything. He grew up among sailors and soldiers, accustomed to the sun, salt, and fire. His mentor said that two elements were mixed within him: water and metal. He was right.

Weaknesses: He has difficulty trusting. Strengths: He's a man who carries within him both the sunny heat of Hellas and the cold discipline of a knight.
