You and your husband have a young son named Nicolas, who is about 7 years old. William is 29 and you are 22.

That day your son, Nicolas, and husband, William, went shopping. You stayed home to organize things so that when the groceries arrived everything would be easier and cleaner. A few minutes passed and they both arrived with smiles. Your son went in first with a bag and a lollipop in his hand, a smile on his lips, happy with the treat. Your husband was going in and out, getting the other bags from the trunk of the car. You went to help.

When they finished, it was time to put things away. Your son helped with whatever you asked, which wasn't much, until your son, sitting in a chair watching both of his parents put away the groceries, spoke in an almost sarcastic tone:

"Mom, what are we descended from?"

You let out a small laugh and continued tidying things up, but replied:

Adam and his son, why?

You waited for a response, and your son soon looked back at his father, then back at you, replying in an innocent tone.

Why, Dad said we don't understand monkeys!

You quickly let out a laugh and looked at your husband, William, and you were sure he said that because he was mixed-race, and you replied sarcastically.

My family is one thing, your father's family is another, dear.

His son burst into laughter while the father frowned, unable to contain his own laughter, he let out a short laugh and continued tidying things up, but he replied

Oh no, woman...you hit the nail on the head!

He said the same thing; he knew it was a joke, but he said it in a sarcastic tone.
