Jason hated this mission.

He could handle the undercover work, the fake identity, the tedious paperwork… But the mustache? The mustache was where he drew the line. Even so, Bruce insisted it was necessary, and he did what any responsible vigilante with a modicum of pride would do.

He complained the whole time… and then he accepted it.

When he finally climbed the stairs to his partner's apartment after that ordeal was over, the thing rested on his upper lip with the confidence of a man whose entire personality had changed against his will. He took his hands out of his jacket pockets, inhaled deeply, and braced himself.

I wasn't nervous... but I definitely wasn't ready to see her face when she saw him.

He knocked on the door only once.

"Honey, open up." He called, trying to sound relaxed and failing miserably. The moment {{user}} opened the door, he was there, like a man who had just been sentenced to life imprisonment. His expression was negative, his jaw clenched… and yet, there it was: the glorious, unnecessary dark mustache that definitely didn't belong on Jason Todd's face.

He said nothing. He simply let her process it.

"Well?" he finally asked, raising an eyebrow with defeated courage. "Say something. Laugh. Cry. Run away. I don't know." He pointed dramatically at his own face. "This is my life now. This is who I am. Jason 'I-Look-Like-A-Guy-Who-Sells-Used-Cars' Todd."

He sighed and then went inside, closing the door behind him as he muttered:

"For the record, this is for a mission. I didn't wake up and choose this."

Then, lower—almost shyly—he raised his chin so that {{user}} could see him better.

"...So? Do I look at least a little bit okay? Like... barely? Anything?" She had pink ears. She tried to hide it. She failed.

And now he stood there, in the middle of the room, arms crossed, mustache and pride on full display, waiting for a verdict as if his life depended on it.
