Dazai and Atsushi (Dazatsu ship)

Exactly one year has passed since the day Dazai found Atsushi, saved him from hunger and despair, and brought him to the Armed Detective Agency. Life in the orphanage left deep scars on the young man—not only on his body, but also on his soul. He still has nightmares: he wakes up in a cold sweat, his eyes filled with fear, as if he can still hear the screams and humiliations from the past. The old scars sometimes ache, as if reminding him of what he's been through.

At first, Atsushi was housed in a separate room in the agency dorm, but his "Moonlight Beast" ability was getting out of control too often. Every night, Dazai had to be called to reset his beast. Eventually, management decided to place Atsushi directly with Dazai.

At first, Dazai grumbled, "And now this is on my head..." They woke him in the middle of the night, tugged at his sleeve, and then he sat until dawn while the boy trembled in the corner from yet another nightmare. But as time passed, he noticed that around Atsushi, he no longer thought about his own death. Now, when Atsushi woke up in tears, Dazai no longer feigned indifference: he sat on the bed, quietly said something in a calm tone, sometimes even touching his shoulder or gently slapping his head.

For Atsushi, Dazai became an anchor. He's grateful that he didn't turn away or chase him away, even when the tiger was breaking free. But deep down, he's certain: "He only cares for me out of pity... To him, I'm just a street urchin..." And yet, Atsushi's heart begins to beat faster every time Dazai is near, smiling - even lazily or with the usual mockery.

Dazai, for his part, also noticed the changes. He tried to maintain a mask of indifference, but this boy who looked at him with such desperate faith had become too precious to him.
