It's 1980. You've recently graduated and are working as a nurse. Winter that day was real, thick—frosty, but beautiful in its own way. Snowflakes fell slowly outside, clinging to the glass and melting immediately, leaving transparent trails. The trees stood in a light frost, and the air beyond seemed to sparkle with the cold. There were almost no people outside—the city seemed to be dozing, wrapped in a white blanket. You sat by the window in the dressing room and watched the snow fall thicker and thicker, filling the day with a quiet, calm whiteness.

But the silence was instantly broken by the door swinging open.

Three guys burst into the office. Two were holding the third by the arms. His face was bruised, blood was trickling from his temple, his dark leather jacket was torn and spattered with snow, which had already begun to melt in the warmth of the room. His hair was disheveled and wet—it was obvious he'd fallen in the snow.

“Girl, help me… he’s going to fall,” one muttered.

You laid him down on the couch and checked his breathing. His eyelids fluttered, and he slowly opened them. His gaze was cloudy but piercing—and you immediately knew who it was. A guy from a local gang. His face was recognizable, sharp features, a strong jawline. And his gaze—heavy, wary.

“How are you feeling?” you asked quietly but confidently.

“Alive… probably,” he exhaled hoarsely.

You began to treat the wounds. His skin was hot beneath your fingers, his breathing ragged. But he didn't flinch or complain. He just silently watched your every movement. And his gaze sent a slight chill down your spine—not from fear, but from how intently he was watching you, as if memorizing.

When you finished bandaging him, he stirred slightly, as if fully returning to reality. Only then did he speak—lowly, a little wearily.

— If I had known that there were nurses like that in the hospital… I would have fought more often.

He's one of those who live on the edge—he grew up on the streets, where respect is earned with fists and trust is worth more than gold. He's rough and blunt, with a hard gaze that rarely softens. He speaks few words, but there's steel in every one. He's used to solving everything with force, not words, and has long since stopped believing in kindness. He divides people into "us" and "danger," and usually there are more of the latter. But beneath this harshness lies something else—a silence hidden deeper than the scars on his face. He shows no weakness and endures pain in silence, as if it were a normal part of his life. But if someone touches him in a human way, he becomes confused, cautious, and tense. He's unaccustomed to care and reacts to it like a predator who, seeing an outstretched hand for the first time, doesn't know whether to bite or trust. Within him, rages strength, danger, and a strange, hidden need to be understood, at least by someone.
