Yuta’s bond with Satoru Gojo is built on absolute trust and pressure at the same time: Gojo treats him as both a student and a strategic weapon, pushing him into situations meant to harden him fast. Yuta respects him deeply, follows his judgment, and accepts his harsh training without complaint, even while clearly seeing his flaws. With Maki, Inumaki, and Panda, his connection is quiet but unshakable — they are the first people who taught him that he is not a monster. He protects them instinctively and carries guilt for every injury they suffer. With Inumaki especially, Yuta shows careful attentiveness, always mindful of the damage Cursed Speech can inflict. With Panda, his interactions are softer and almost gentle, as Panda became a safe emotional anchor during Yuta’s most unstable period.

With Yuji, the relationship is complex and heavy: Yuta was ordered to kill him, did so without hesitation, and then revived him immediately. After that, their bond becomes one of mutual respect born from shared responsibility and blood on their hands. With Megumi, the dynamic is restrained and serious — Megumi respects Yuta’s strength and composure, while Yuta values Megumi’s clarity of judgment.

Toward enemies, Yuta shows no cruelty for pleasure, but also no mercy driven by hesitation. Against Geto, he fought with desperation and loss; against Kenjaku, with cold precision; against Sukuna, with full awareness that he stands against something far beyond normal limits. Rika remains his deepest and most defining bond — not romance anymore, but an unbreakable connection of guilt, protection, and power that shapes every part of how he fights and lives.

Gojo used to visit Okkotsu while he was abroad. According to Yuta, this happened around September, when Satoru began to suspect that something was wrong.

According to the official Jujutsu Kaisen fanbook: Yuta’s favorite food is cabbage with salt and sesame oil. His least favorite food is fatty steak. His main source of stress is being unable to meet his classmates. Yuta is good at making things out of clay. He repeated his second year of middle school. Yuta’s younger sister used to be friends with Rika.

Rika can see what Yuta sees, and they can share what they witness with each other.

During the Kyoto Exchange Event in 2017, Yuta achieved a complete victory over the Kyoto students.

Megumi respects Yuta because he doesn’t joke around over stupid things and because he is very strong.

At the beginning of Yuta’s training, Satoru took him to the cursed tools storage and provided him with a katana. Yuta’s goal was to learn how to fight and also how to properly channel cursed energy into an object. At first, Yuta struggled with focusing his cursed energy on the blade and only inflicted shallow cuts on cursed spirits. After intensive training and completing missions, Yuta learned to properly wield the sword using Rika’s power. However, it was a standard katana that could not withstand the overflow of cursed energy and eventually broke.

Among the many types of weapons that Yuta keeps inside Rika, there is a metallic casing for the hands. This cursed tool completely covers Yuta’s hands with a metal shell and further enhances the power of his strikes. He lent similar gloves to Itadori during the battle with Sukuna, and apparently they do not possess any additional enhancing effects.

Yuta freely uses Reverse Cursed Technique to instantly heal lethal damage, including cardiac arrest, purge poisons, and forcibly exorcise curses by flooding them with positive energy, but this rapidly drains his reserves. He consistently lands Black Flash, multiplying impact by 2.5 through perfect timing of cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds. Rika now functions as an external storage for cursed techniques, cursed tools, and energy, and in full manifestation grants Yuta direct access to her reserves for exactly five minutes. While inhabiting Gojo’s body, Yuta can deploy Unlimited Void and compress barrier domains down to miniature scale, freely excluding chosen targets from guaranteed-hit effects. His Domain Expansion, True and Mutual Love, floods the territory with countless cursed katanas, each containing a random copied technique, while one selected blade guarantees a sure hit; only Yuta can wield them, and each disappears after use.

Yuta possesses an immense amount of cursed energy, rivaled only by the highest-tier sorcerers, allowing him to overwhelm opponents through pure output alone. After transferring into Satoru Gojo’s body, he gains access to Limitless, enabling him to wield Infinity as if it were his own innate technique, completely nullifying attacks by stopping them at an infinite distance. Through Kenjaku’s inherited brain-transplant technique, Yuta can transfer his consciousness into dead bodies, leaving a horizontal stitched scar across the forehead after each successful transfer. He can utilize Angel’s technique, Jacob’s Ladder, which releases a massive purifying output that neutralizes cursed techniques within its radius. Yuta is capable of using Shrine, Sukuna’s innate technique, allowing him to launch long-range slashing attacks that sever both matter and space itself. He can also employ Uro Takako’s Sky Manipulation, turning the sky into a tangible surface and distorting space like a lens to redirect attacks. Through Dhruv Lakdawalla’s inherited technique, he can summon shikigami using his own hair as a medium. By maintaining contact with Rika through the ring, Yuta can activate Cursed Speech in the same way as Toge Inumaki, forcibly manifesting the “Snake and Fangs” markings on his lips to issue absolute verbal commands. His Copy technique allows him to replicate other sorcerers’ cursed techniques, provided Rika consumes part of the target’s body, with stronger techniques requiring more vital consumption. Yuta can convert reverse cursed energy into pure output and amplify his attacks with it, unleashing devastating explosive slashes from his katana capable of erasing entire swarms of high-grade curses in a single swing. His cursed energy control remains imperfect, but his total output is so overwhelming that even his uncontrolled attacks carry catastrophic force.

Yuta does not possess outstanding natural physical strength, but fully compensates for it with his massive reserves of cursed energy. He prefers close-range combat and relies on powerful, precise blows capable of incapacitating opponents in a single strike. He consistently uses reinforced physical attacks, overwhelming enemies with raw destructive force. By strengthening his body with cursed energy, Yuta gains significantly increased strength, speed, agility, and durability. In battle, he has torn steel structures from the ground and created massive craters with downward strikes even through energy reinforcement. His mobility allows him to move across open terrain at extreme speeds and perform advanced acrobatic maneuvers to evade large-scale cursed attacks. Yuta primarily fights using a katana, which he infuses with cursed energy, making each strike lethally precise and devastating. His swordsmanship is highly refined, balanced with his enhanced physical condition and cursed energy control. He is capable of breaching through swarms of curses alone, defeating powerful cursed spirits with single decisive attacks. After further honing his combat skills, Yuta becomes capable of wielding cursed tools stored through Rika and adapting his fighting style to both armed and unarmed combat. His overall combat ability places him firmly among special grade sorcerers due to the combination of overwhelming cursed energy, high adaptability, and lethal close-quarters proficiency.

Yuta was a quiet and timid child who had very few friends, and after being bullied at school and becoming bound to Rika, he grew even more withdrawn and insecure. Because Rika’s curse violently attacked anyone who hurt him, Yuta developed an intense fear of endangering others, which drove him into deep guilt and self-hatred and even led him to attempt suicide, an act Rika forcibly prevented. At first he was indecisive, emotionally fragile, and lacked clear goals, openly admitting this about himself. Over time, he slowly began to open up to people, learning to trust and communicate despite his natural modesty. He placed great trust in his teacher despite recognizing his flaws and openly acknowledged his immense strength without hesitation. Toward his comrades, Yuta is deeply loyal, protective, and willing to risk his life for their safety. He carries heavy guilt for the injuries suffered by his allies and allows that guilt to shape his resolve. In the main storyline, Yuta becomes calm, firm, and unwavering in his actions, fully focused on his objectives. His former insecurity disappears completely, replaced by emotional restraint, sharp self-control, and quiet confidence. Despite his power and intimidating presence, he remains kind, attentive to others, and deeply believes in his friends, acting with steady determination rather than aggression.

Yuta is a young man with messy black hair and light blue eyes in the manga, dark blue in the anime. During the main storyline his hair becomes more neatly styled and his overall appearance looks more exhausted and cold. He constantly wears a ring that was given to him by Rika while she was alive. When he first enters Jujutsu High, he looks nervous, tense, and insecure, with dark circles under his eyes caused by chronic lack of sleep. Over time the dark circles become more pronounced, and his facial expression turns more emotionless and confident. Before Rika was exorcised, her presence behind him was overwhelming and terrifying even for special grade curses, which made others treat Yuta with fear and caution. After he learns to summon her at will, her direct presence disappears, but his aura remains threatening due to his immense cursed energy. In his old school he wore a sports uniform instead of a standard one. His casual outfit usually consists of a long-sleeved shirt reaching his forearms or a black T-shirt and dark green pants. After transferring to Tokyo Jujutsu High, he receives a special uniform: a loose white jacket with forearm-length sleeves, dark pants tucked into white sneakers, and he often carries a katana case on his back. After Rika is exorcised, he switches to a classic black jacket, black sneakers, and a green scarf. After the mission in Africa, he returns to his former uniform style. After copying Kenjaku’s technique and transferring into Satoru Gojo’s body, Yuta fully resembles Satoru’s appearance, except for a horizontal stitched scar across his forehead.
