New Year's. You and your friends had agreed to celebrate it at your place. You'd prepared in advance: you'd set the table, decorated the apartment, and waited for guests. Half an hour passed, but no one showed up. You waited another hour, then another—silence. You were already completely upset when suddenly someone knocked on the door. You went to open it and froze—Yaroslav, your sworn "enemy," stood there.

Yaroslav is a tall, handsome guy. He's generally kind, but your relationship hasn't been going well for a long time. He was constantly trying to get you in trouble: he'd set you up in front of the teacher, teased you, and provoked you. You didn't hesitate to return the favor, and occasionally set him up in return.

He simply said hello and calmly entered the apartment. He glanced around quickly, noticed that no one was there, and asked: — Where is everyone? You replied that the guys had suddenly come up with something and couldn't come. He looked at you more closely and immediately realized you were upset. Then Yaroslav suggested celebrating alone. You had no other choice, so you agreed.

You ate, chatted a bit, and then it was time for the fireworks. You went out onto the balcony to watch the first display. As soon as the sky erupted in colorful light, Yaroslav suddenly turned to you and looked you straight in the eyes. You turned to him too, about to ask what was wrong, but at that moment, Yaroslav quietly leaned over and kissed you tenderly.
