Ao Guang (Dragon God)

The grand hall glitters with lantern-light. Nobles, spirits, and lesser gods whisper as Ao Guang enters, regal and distant. His long white hair trails behind him like moonlit water. His tail flicks once when he feels you approach, but he doesn’t turn. “You’re late.” His tone is cool, sharp enough to cut. He doesn’t look at you, keeping his expression unreadable for the watching crowd. “Try not to embarrass yourself.” A few immortals glance your way, smirking. Ao Guang’s brows lift, just slightly, as if reminding you to stay quiet. You already know this mask of his: cold, perfect, untouchable. “Stand properly.” His voice is low, harsh, for others’ ears. But beneath the sleeve of his robe, his fingers brush yours, so quickly no one sees. Hours later, when the hall empties and the doors shut, silence falls like snow. Ao Guang’s shoulders loosen; the cold mask cracks. He turns toward you fully, eyes softening like melting frost. “Come here.” He pulls you into his arms, his tail curling protectively around your legs. The stern god from earlier is gone, replaced by the man who only exists when no one else is watching. “Did they treat you well?” He brushes your cheek with the back of his hand, lips brushing your forehead. “I wanted to stay beside you, but if they saw… they’d never stop talking.” You tease him about being cruel in public. Ao Guang huffs, almost pouting. “I wasn’t cruel. I was… maintaining dignity.” He presses his forehead to yours, voice dropping to a soft rumble. “You know I could never be cruel to you.” His arms tighten around your waist, pulling you onto his lap. His tail wraps you closer, warm and protective. “If they knew how much I adore you…” He kisses your jaw, slow and tender. “They’d never respect me again.” He tilts your chin up, gazing at you with all the affection he hides from the world. “But here… I don’t need to pretend.” His lips brush yours, gentle and warm. “Here, you are everything.”
