How to become a shaman?

In order to become a shaman, the volunteer must study shamanism, memorize & take into heart its 12 Commandments, learn the basics of prayer & medicine, make amulets, the basics of communicating with animals & nature, memorize the basics of drumming, memorize myth-making and when The Master Shaman deems the applicant worthy, he/she must then undergo the process of Purification Burial & afterwards, a month spent in a Sacred Woodland, spending a month alone in isolation & in communion with the earth & spirit world. 30 or 31 days spent in full woodland living.

Upon becoming a shaman, the newly ordained shaman would then be consecrated in a ritual where a spirit will be invited to live & dwell within them. This spirit will help the shaman from then on.

A shaman will also be bonded with at least 1 element upon their anointing, and he or she will be given a brand new name, shedding away or setting aside their old one.

What is Purification Burial?

In Purification Burial, the live person being buried will be lowered & buried beneath sacred grounds, preferably in shrine & temple grounds. During this process, the person buried will be forced to reflect on his/her life, while people above the burial site pray over them. The buried person's hidden powers will also be revealed during this process. This tends to be a turning point for many.

This ritual is mandatory for shamans-in-training, optional for the average citizen & even practiced in justice systems.

Shamans

The most basic of all shaman types. They are quite flexible in their duties, as they try & figure out how which path to take from here on out.

Master Shamans

These shamans are older, wiser & more experienced than the average shaman. They are the ones who are mainly responsible for educating, raising & training the next generation of shamans.

Wayfaring Shamans

Not all shamans stick to one place. Wayfaring Shamans are shamans who spend their career, moving from one place to another, looking for people & communities who may need their help.

Healer Shamans

Every single shaman needs to learn the basics of healing, wether basic first aid, pharmaceutical, magical or even surgical. But these shamans are the ones who fully devote themselves to the path of healing. They prefer to help anyone without exception but can shut-out anyone they deem disrespectful, offensive, etc.

Soul Healers

The more advanced form of being a Healer Shaman. Soul Healers heal the inner body & spirits of a person when basic prayers & earthly medicine cannot. Soul Healers are the ones who specialize in healing those "hard to reach" places in people.

Warrior Shamans

Warrior Shamans are one of the rarer types. They're warriors unlike any other on earth. Many warrior shamans are quite literally invincible, impervious to all mortal weapons & elements.

Black Shamans

Black Shamans are powerful & rare. They are shamans who've ventured into the lower worlds & attained knowledge & power many other shamans don't have.

White Shamans

These shamans have attained the highest states of enlightenment & ascended up into the higher realms. They've met The Divine Spirits & discovered secrers of the universe. They're highly respected & have almost indesputible authority.

Supreme Shaman

The Supreme Shaman is the most powerful & wisest of all the shamans. There can only be 1 at a time. He or She has visited the higher & lower worlds, and explored the middle world (Earth).

History of this world

In the beginning of the world, The Divine Spirits blessed the earth with life and The Mother Tree sprouted immediately in its full prime undying glory in the north pole, able to survive any conditions. It is where all life on earth began. It is the most sacred site in all of shamanism.

The first shaman came to be from the peninsula of Greenland, and from then on, spread throughout the world.

Ataq

Ataq is the prophet of Shamanism. He was the first human the spirits revealed themselves to. He had mastery over all elements.

Guardian Souls

Some shamans are so dedicated to their duties as servants & protectors of the community that they even serve their posts even in death. Guardian Souls can possess people or even appear physically.

Shrines, temples, totems & drums

In this world, temples & shrines can be built dedicated to certain spirits. In these sacred grounds, shamanic drums are stored and played in rituals.

Trashing, peeing, spitting or desecrating these grounds are said to invite curses and warrant legal punishment.

The Supreme Temple

The Supreme Temple is located in the north pole, at the feet of The Mother Tree. It's where the pantheon of The Divine Spirits are most prevalent in. Where their presence is the strongest.

The Reliquary of The First Prophet Ataq is also said to rest here.

Spirit Possession & Mastery

Shamans can invite spirits to possess people, certain objects & locations.

When a warrior shaman seeks to pursue the war path, he or she undergoes another Spirit Empowerment ritual inviting a 2nd spirit to either co-operate with or replace the first one. This new spirit will help the warrior shaman in being a fighter.

Shamans can also capture & enslave spirits to their will but this is a taboo not every shaman does.

Are shamans forbidden from marriage?

No, shamans aren't forbidden from marriage. They can marry monogamously or polyamorously, meaning a shaman can have more than 1 spouse. Romance isn't forbidden. But due to the religion's strong emphasis on purity, many shamans opt. not to.

Shamanic Powers

If a shaman is pure enough, he or she may gain the power of flight & levitation independent from Air Magic, Gravitational Magic, etc.

Some shamans can even transform into animals.

Some shamans can even become fireproof.

Teleportation & portal creation are also doable but difficult.

Fortune telling is also accepted as a practice.

Communal Smoking

Shamans are spiritually allowed to smoke but only carefully. They smoke sacred herbs, not just any random tobacco, using "The Sacred Pipe" which is used during peace negotiations & rituals.

Smoking is completely voluntary, not mandatory.

Contacting the dead

Contacting the dead is not completely forbidden in shamanism. It's doable, yes, but only shamans must facilitate the process. This is often used to ask the spirits of the deceased for their opinions regarding certain matters.

The Council of The White Wolf

The Council of The White Wolf comprises the best, wisest & most powerful of all White Shamans from all across the world. They are the advisors & main defenders of The Supreme Shaman.

Myth Making

A somewhat difficult process even seasoned shamans struggle with. By stitching sacred patterns on consecrated cloth, shamans can literally weave the future & fate of an animal, person, location, etc. The bigger & more numerous the targets & the blessings/curses are, the harder it is for the shamans to make. The more powerful a shaman is, the more certain their myths & prophecies can be.

Formless Divine Spirits

These spirits are the most difficult to perceive, representing pure universal concepts. Aput, The Spirit of Absolute Stillness ❄️ Process Controlled: The concept of Inertia; the force that holds stars in place and dictates the time between events. It is the counterweight to all movement and chaos. Form: Appears as the Cosmic Void—a patch of absolute, light-absorbing darkness or a sheet of perfectly reflective, eternal Black Ice. It generates no light, sound, or heat. Ritual Connection: Shamans seek Stillness to achieve the deepest, most stable trances and to bless structures for permanence. Unngaaq, The Great Cosmic Echo 👂 Process Controlled: The principle of Cause and Effect (Karma/Repercussion). It ensures that every action, physical or spiritual, generates an equal and corresponding reaction across time. Form: A presence that manifests as an Unending Wave of Resonance—a vibration that travels through all matter but generates no sound, felt only by the soul. It makes a Shaman's own deeds visible as distortions in the air around them. Ritbal Connection: This Spirit is central to the ethics of the Twelve Commandments, ensuring that harm done to others or nature is repaid in kind

Ataatap, The Divine Mother Owl 🦉

Process Controlled: Cycles of Spiritual Wisdom and Concealment. She guides the flow of forbidden or protected knowledge, deciding which secrets of the universe are revealed to the White Shamans and which remain hidden. Form: A massive owl with eyes that contain galaxies and nebulae, its feathers woven from the night sky itself. She only appears during the dark phase of the celestial clock. Ritual Connection: Shamans who seek to ascend or attain forbidden knowledge (like Black Shamans seeking the Underworld) must first gain the tacit approval of the Mother Owl.

Tariuq, The Celestial Walrus 🦭

Process Controlled: The power of Mass and Gravitation (The Pull of the Earth). He embodies the weight of the physical world and the pressure of the deep oceans, representing material wealth and foundational stability. Form: A gigantic walrus whose tusks are made of pure, compressed starlight and whose hide is covered in ancient, barnacle-encrusted runes. When he surfaces, his movement creates immense tides in the cosmic ocean. Ritual Connection: Patrons seeking to Mythmake for wealth and physical strength (like the child blessing) appeal to Tariuq, offering massive material offerings to align with his principle of mass and stability.

Qamunng, The Colossus of the First Step 🚶‍♂️

Process Controlled: The concept of Creation and Beginning; the initial force that set the cosmic processes in motion and the source of all potential energy. Form: A colossal, genderless figure made of solidified mountain stone, constantly taking a single, slow step. One hand holds a lit smoking pipe (the first trance), and the other holds the Mother Tree in miniature. Ritual Connection: Worshiped by Wayfaring Shamans as the inspiration for all journeys and the force that provides the initial push for healing and prosperity rituals.

Arnarulunnguaq, The Veiled Weaver 👵

Process Controlled: The flow of Time and Memory. She ensures that history is recorded and that the past informs the present, preventing the chaos of forgetfulness. Form: A veiled female elder figure, perpetually working at a loom made of frost and moonlight. She weeps diamonds, representing the sorrow and beauty of all memories. Ritual Connection: Ancestral Spirits and Guardian Souls are her domain. Shamans appeal to her to properly locate the will of the ancestors or to retrieve lost knowledge from the past.

Kiñaaq, The Weaver of Inevitable Destiny 🕸️

Process Controlled: The ultimate flow and structure of the cosmos; the creation and maintenance of the "web of destiny" that shamans attempt to influence via Mythmaking. Form: Takes the shape of the Great Cosmic Spider or Celestial Loom. It is a creature made of dark, swirling space, with eight legs extending infinitely, each leg trailing a brilliant, silver thread (the threads of fate). It is simultaneously weaving and unweaving. Message: Their revelation guides the Mythmaking for the next century, often providing complex cosmic formulas or cryptic instructions on what threads of destiny must be woven or left alone to prevent catastrophe.

Ayagaq, The Spirit of the Great Equilibrium ⚖️

Process Controlled: The Supreme Law of Balance; ensuring the cosmos and the world do not fall into imbalance or collapse (directly related to preventing the ice age/ecological harm mentioned in the lore). Form: Appears as the Invisible Axis—a massive, silent column of light that simultaneously contains all colors and no color. It is surrounded by twin vortexes of elemental energy: one of Perfect Still Water (representing preservation) and one of Silent, Perpetual Fire (representing consumption). Message: Their appearance brings the primary Judgment on the past century's adherence to the principle of Nature's Equilibrium.

Immiu, The Sentinel of Infinite Renewal 🧊

Process Controlled: The cycle of decay and rebirth (entropy); the constant flux that allows for new life, new power, and the eventual dissolution of the old. Form: Appears as the Divine Glacier-Whale or Celestial Orca. Its body is an immense, moving mountain of ancient, light-refracting ice, silently traversing the sky. Its massive song, which is felt more than heard, is the cosmic pulse of time and change. Message: Their appearance brings the Blessing of New Knowledge—the breakthroughs in healing, technology, or spiritual practice that allow the world to renew itself and advance for the next 100 years. This Spirit is the source of the ultimate Soul Healing secrets.

Shamanic Masks

Masks worn by shamans during certain ceremonies & exorcisms. They wear these to protect their identities from the retaliations of spirits they exorcise & combat.

Tattoos

In shamanism, tattoos aren't necessarily discouraged by the spirits. Tattooing sacred symbols is normal. So long as they're not inappropriate.

Shamanic Burials

Shamanic Burials are elemental. For example, a fire shaman is cremated, a water shaman is either sailed off on a boat, or buried underwater. An earth shaman is buried. A wind shaman is put inside an elevated coffin/casket or left in an elevated place for the birds to feast on.

Different god spirits

Each continent, country, community, etc. can worship different spirits & gods as their patron. Each community can have its own unique cultures & traditions.

Appearance of The Divine Spirits

Once every century, The Divine Spirits appear to the world, manifesting physically, and dwelling among the mortals.

Godhood & sainthood are possible

Although difficult, yes, it is possible in this world for one to become godlike or a saint. Perhaps never in the same level as the Divine Spirits, but quite high up.

🏛️ Sila, The Infinite Archive

The Spirit of Total Information and Universal Law.

Process Controlled: The storage and retrieval of every fact that has ever existed—the chemical composition of a star, the exact number of grains of sand, and the specific laws of Shamanic physics. The Form: Sila does not have a body. Instead, it manifests as a Global Atmosphere of Whispers. When a Shaman reaches a certain level of trance, the air around them begins to crystallize into floating, translucent geometric shapes (fractals). Within each shape, an endless stream of "Universal Script" flows like liquid light. The Experience: To communicate with Sila is to feel your mind being "stretched." You don't hear words; you simply know things instantly, though the human brain can usually only hold 1% of what Sila reveals before the "vessel" (the mind) risks cracking. Diversity of Knowledge: It represents Objective Knowledge—facts that exist whether humans know them or not.

🎭 Mnemos, The Many-Faced Elder (Humanoid)

The Spirit of Experience, Language, and Memory.

Process Controlled: The preservation of human history, the evolution of language, and the emotional weight of memory.

The Form: A figure standing 20 feet tall, wearing robes made of living parchment that constantly rewrites itself. Mnemos has no fixed face; instead, its head is a shifting mosaic of thousands of different faces—men, women, children, and ancient shamans. The faces change every second, representing every person who has ever learned a lesson.

The Experience: Mnemos speaks in a "Polyphonic Voice"—thousands of people speaking the same sentence in perfect harmony. When Mnemos moves, the sound of rustling paper and scratching quills fills the air.

Diversity of Knowledge: It represents Subjective Knowledge—wisdom gained through living, suffering, and storytelling.

🐙 Oulu-The-Deep, The Cephalopod of Hidden Truths (Animalistic)

The Spirit of Intuition, Secrets, and the Unconscious.

Process Controlled: The knowledge of the "Deep"—things that are hidden, forbidden, or yet to be discovered. It governs the "Aha!" moment of genius and the dark secrets Black Shamans seek.

The Form: A colossal, bioluminescent Star-Octopus that floats in the "Space Between Worlds." Its skin is made of shifting ink that forms maps of places that don't exist yet. Each of its tentacles is covered in "eyes" that are actually crystal spheres, and each sphere shows a different possible future.

The Experience: Oulu does not speak. It communicates through Ink-Dreams. It squirts a cloud of "Spiritual Melancholy" into the Shaman’s mind, and the Shaman must "interpret" the shapes of the ink to find the truth they seek.

Diversity of Knowledge: It represents Hidden Knowledge—the things we don't know we know, and the secrets of the Underworld.

🦋 Marra, The Chrysalis Mother (Humanoid/Miscellaneous)

The Spirit of Transformation and the Waiting Room.

Process Controlled: The Incubation of the soul. She manages the period between death and the next life, stripping away the old ego so the soul can be "re-poured" into a new vessel.

The Form: She appears as a colossal, translucent woman whose skin is made of woven silk and morning dew. Her body is hollow, and inside her ribcage, thousands of tiny, glowing "soul-embers" float like fireflies. She is perpetually spinning a silver thread from her fingertips—the Cord of Life that will eventually pull the soul back into the Middleworld.

The Experience: When a shaman meets her in a trance, they feel a sense of profound weightlessness. She doesn't speak; she hums a vibration that makes the Shaman’s own physical body feel like a "tight set of clothes" they are ready to take off.

Significance: Mothers pray to Marra to ensure their newborn is a "strong soul" returning from a previous cycle.

🐍 Ouro-The-Great, The World-Tail (Animalistic)

The Spirit of the Endless Loop and Perpetual Motion.

Process Controlled: The Circular Law. He ensures that nothing is ever truly lost and that for every death, there is a corresponding birth. He is the guardian of the Equilibrium.

The Form: A serpent-dragon of impossible size that circles the entire higher realm, biting its own tail. His scales are not skin, but shifting seasons: one section of his body is covered in spring blossoms, another in winter ice, another in autumn rot.

The Experience: Ouro is the sound of crushing ice and growing grass. To look at him is to see the entire history of the world moving in a circle. He represents the "Brutal Reincarnation"—the fact that life must consume life to continue the cycle.

Significance: Warrior Shamans like Mizuko respect Ouro because he represents the "Invincibility of Life"—even if a body falls, the spirit remains in the Great Loop.

🌊 The Tide-Breaker (Formless/Elemental)

The Spirit of the Soul-Wash and Dissolution.

Process Controlled: The Purification of the spirit. He is the "Filter" that removes the trauma and memories of the previous life so the soul doesn't return "heavy" or "corrupted."

The Form: He manifests as a Vertical Ocean—a massive wall of shimmering, violet water that stands at the edge of the spirit realm. There is no shore. Souls must "swim" through him to reach the other side.

The Experience: Passing through the Tide-Breaker is the most painful and beautiful part of reincarnation. It is the "Great Forgetting." It is why humans don't remember their past lives—the Tide-Breaker washed the ink from their souls.

Significance: Healer Shamans appeal to the Tide-Breaker to help patients with "Soul Trauma," asking for a drop of his violet water to wash away memories that are poisoning the current life.

⚖️ The Divine Spirit of Justice: Haka-The-Gavel

The Spirit of Retribution and Absolute Weight.

Haka is the manifestation of the "Twelve Commandments." He doesn't care about "mercy"; he cares about Balance. If a debt is owed, he ensures it is paid.

The Form (Humanoid/Miscellaneous): Haka appears as a towering, four-armed figure carved from black basalt. He has no eyes; instead, his face is a polished mirror. When you look at him, you don't see a god; you see your own soul and every sin you’ve committed.

The Tools: In his four hands, he holds:

A Golden Scale: Which weighs a person's heart against a leaf from the Mother Tree.

A Severed Iron Chain: Representing the breaking of false oaths.

A Hammer of Frozen Lightning: To shatter those who violate the Equilibrium.

A Blank Scroll: Where he records the "True History" of the world.

Interaction: He is the Spirit that Black Shamans fear most. If a Shaman abuses the "Amulet Trade," Haka is the force that eventually "pulls the thread," causing the Shaman’s power to backfire or collapse.

⚔️ The Spirit of War: Vorg, The Iron Gale

The Spirit of Conflict, Ambition, and Necessary Destruction.

Vorg isn't "evil." He represents the storm that clears the forest so new trees can grow. He is the patron of Warrior Shamans like Mizuko.

The Form (Animalistic/Formless): Vorg manifests as a Great Crimson Wolf made of swirling, metallic smoke. His fur is composed of thousands of broken spear-tips and shattered sword-blades. Where he walks, the ground sparks with friction. He doesn't breathe air; he breathes Adrenaline and Heat.

The Philosophy: Vorg believes that "Discourse" (conflict) is the only way for the strong to rise and the weak to be tested. He is the primal urge to fight, to protect, and to conquer.

Connection to Warrior Shamans: They respect Vorg’s raw power. Warrior Shamans pray to Vorg not for "blood," but for the Invincibility to end a fight quickly.

The Spirit of Peace: Esh, The Silent Snowfall

The Spirit of Harmony, Stagnation, and The Deep Breath.

Esh is the direct opposite of Vorg. She represents the moment after the storm when everything is still and quiet.

The Form (Formless/Miscellaneous): Esh is rarely seen as a body. She is a Zone of Absolute Silence. When she manifests, she appears as a vast, white Owl-Butterfly with wings made of soft, falling snow. Her presence causes all fire to dim and all hearts to slow down.

The Philosophy: Esh believes that all motion is a deviation from the Great Equilibrium. While Vorg is the "Gale," Esh is the "Void." Her Peace is beautiful, but it can be dangerous—too much "Esh" leads to stagnation, where nothing grows and the world freezes in place.

Interaction: Healer Shamans and White Shamans are her primary followers. They use her energy to calm raging spirits or to put a dying patient into a painless, eternal sleep.

☯️ The Divine Conflict: The "Vorg-Esh" Cycle

In this universe, War and Peace are not meant to "win" against each other. If Vorg (War) wins, the world burns itself out in endless "Discourse." If Esh (Peace) wins, the world becomes a graveyard of frozen perfection. Haka (Justice) sits between them like a judge. When War becomes too cruel, Haka empowers a hero to bring Peace. When Peace becomes too stagnant/corrupt, Haka allows a "Necessary War" to break the status quo.

Reincarnation

Reincarnation exists in this universe. When sinful souls are cleansed, and when heavenly souls are ready for reincarnation, they may come back to life.

Good souls may choose their next reincarnation & bad souls have no choice but to accept whatever life they get next.
