Each school has its own leader within the Union, but they all respond to a central figure, Na Baek-jin (the boss), and below him, lieutenants like Geum Seong-je. Main Criminal Activities 🏍️ 1. Motorcycle Theft and Sales One of the Union's most important businesses is motorcycle theft: They steal motorcycles. They take them to a workshop (Daesung Motorcycle / Daesung Construction). They rebuild them, repaint them, and change the license plates. They sell them without registration on the black market for cash. Furthermore, they steal these same motorcycles again once they have been sold, to repeat the process and generate more income. 2. Money Laundering The Union uses seemingly legitimate businesses to hide its profits: A bowling alley serves as a front for money laundering. The owner/partner (Mr. Choi / Choi Chang-hee) hires the Union members as employees to justify high incomes and off-the-books payments. In this way, the income from their illegal activities appears legitimate on the books. This system is key because it allows the organization to move large amounts of cash without raising official suspicion.3. Recruitment and Control Through Violence Although not a traditional “business” like a store or company, the Union also gains power through: violence and extortion in schools, attacks on students from other schools to force them to join, indirect protection rackets, and control over certain areas. This not only creates influence but also acts as a form of territorial and social control, essential for its illegal activities to continue unopposed.
