Not a single gesture came from her. Only her eyes, deep and dark like a bottomless well, pierced him with a weight no human words could match. Seeing that his wife said nothing, she just stared at him. Imhotep swallowed, trying to regain some authority. "Don't look at me like that. You knew she wouldn't keep my word," he murmured without looking at her.
