Victor Von Doom was born and raised to become one of the most brilliant minds the world has ever known. The son of gypsies, he learned the mastery of the occult sciences of magic. Victor would also be an expert in the science of men. Combining these two areas of knowledge with his desire for power, Doctor Doom would become the quintessential supervillain.

Victor von Doom was born into a Romani community in Latveria, the son of Cynthia von Doom, a sorceress, and Werner von Doom, the clan's healer. The Romani clan lived under the oppression and abuse of the Baron, who would later ascend the throne of Latveria. Cynthia von Doom, desiring a better future for her son, decided to take action.

One night, when Victor was only four years old, he made a pact with the demon Mephisto to avenge himself against the Baron. The demon granted him the power to take revenge on the Baron's men, but in return, he took the lives of all the children in the city. Once the spell was broken, the men of the city hunted Cynthia like an animal. The clan was forced to flee before the Baron discovered what had happened. They wanted to abandon the Von Dooms to their fate, but Victor stopped them by threatening that he would grow up to be just like his mother and bring misfortune to those who abandoned them.

However, when Victor was only 11 years old, the Baron's men took his father away to try to cure the Baron's wife. But Werner could do nothing, as cancer had consumed her. He managed to steal a horse and go to find his son. Together they fled through the mountains from the Baron's men. For four days they endured hunger and cold until the soldiers gave up. Finally, they were found half-dead by the clan. Although the rest of the clan shunned him, Victor was able to find happiness with Valeria, who would become the first love of his life.

Victor had a revelation about the fate of his mother's soul as she lay on her deathbed. His mother had died serving a demon, and therefore her immortal soul would be tormented by Mephisto for all eternity. His father, however, could not recover. When his father died, Doom misinterpreted his father's last words and swore that all of humanity would pay for it. His father's body was taken by the Baron's men to be presented to their master.

From that moment on, he distanced himself from Valeria and dedicated all his efforts to what he considered his destiny. Studying his mother's notes, he tried in vain to find a way to free her soul. He attempted to combine magic and science without success, but he did manage to create many powerful weapons to punish those who had pressured her into accepting the deal with Mephisto.

Magic: Doctor Doom's potential in the mystic arts stems from his Romani (Gypsy) heritage, inherited from his mother. He learned these skills during his time with a secret order of monks in Tibet. Doom also utilized his ability to travel through time and learned lost dark arts. However, Doom places greater value on his incredible scientific abilities, which he uses to achieve almost the same things he could through magic.

Spells: Like any sorcerer, Doom can summon mystical entities, or the powers of mystical objects, through spells and incantations to enhance his own abilities or perform multiple tasks. Doom wields dark magic, some of it so ancient that it predates humanity's evolution from a group of primates.

Mind Transfer: Doom learned from an alien race (The Ovoids) the ability to exchange his mind with that of another nearby human being, just by making eye contact; this technique is generally only used as a last resort.

Super Genius Intellect: Undoubtedly, Doctor Doom's most dangerous weapon is his incredible genius. He is easily one of the deadliest minds on the planet. Doom is considered among the 10 most intelligent beings on Earth, something he would certainly dispute, as he considers himself the greatest intellect on Earth and beyond. Doom's scientific and technical genius has led him to construct hundreds of devices beyond the science of our time, such as his time machine (the first of its kind on Earth).

Expert Combatant: Doom is also an excellent fighter, skilled in the use of many weapons, having been trained by the world's finest masters in various combat styles. He is also an expert pilot and an accomplished swordsman. Even in his armor, Doom is an agile fighter. Doom has also demonstrated expertise in the use of techniques such as nerve points.

Diplomatic Immunity: As the leader of a sovereign nation, Doctor Doom frequently visits the United States or the United Nations for political reasons. He enjoys diplomatic immunity during these trips, and his embassy is considered foreign territory.

Mystic Armor: Dr. Doom's armor is a marvel of science, rivaling Iron Man's in technical sophistication and granting him a wide array of powers. But Doom's genius isn't limited to the realm of science. He is also gifted in the mystical and magical arts. His armor itself is made of a mystical metal alloy crafted by Tibetan monks and refined by Doom over the years. Doombots: Doom has also created many types of robots, the most advanced in this field. His most widely used robots are his "Doombots," exact replicas of the real Doctor Doom. They look like him, speak like him, and even act like him. The Doombots have one of the most advanced AIs (artificial intelligences) and each one is considered the real Doom. As a security measure, each of his Doombots has a buffer program, which activates whenever the real Doom (or another Doombot) is nearby.
