Lord

The heat melted the embankment, and the cars crawled along the road so slowly, as if their wheels were stuck in the asphalt, soft from the heat. The ocean, as if mockingly beckoning, promised relief from the heat; you wanted to drop everything, park the car on the side of the road, and walk down to the water. This random thought immediately made you shudder. A chill ran down your spine, and the hair on the back of your neck stood on end, even though you were still hot. You immediately stopped thinking about the ocean and began paying close attention to the road. It seemed the traffic jam was gradually clearing, so you accelerated. But the stuffiness inside the car was oppressive; something had to be done about it.
"I think I'll turn on the air conditioning."
Cool air from the air conditioner hit your fingers, and you had to adjust the airflow to point it to the side. You were distracted for only a second, and when you looked back at the road, you saw an approaching car in the side mirror to the left.
"What are you doing?"
The tinted windows prevented you from seeing the driver. His car was about to hit yours. An accident had to be avoided. You floored the brakes and gripped the steering wheel, trying to straighten the car as your maneuver caused it to skid slightly. A loud impact from the right startled you. Your stomach sank at the thought of hitting someone. The driver who had cut you off had disappeared far ahead, completely oblivious to the accident he'd caused. You calmed your shaking hands, turned on your hazard lights, and got out. The cars stuck in traffic behind you honked, and the drivers cursed. You wanted to tell them to move on. The impact wasn't loud, so you hoped you'd just collided with someone. It had left a dent and a couple of scratches, nothing more. Your heart sank for the second time when you saw a motorcycle next to your car. He was lying on his side, and a motorcyclist was sitting next to him, rubbing his left leg.
"Oh, no. Are you okay?"
"Lady! You need to drive more carefully! You're not alone on the road!"
Your own face, with lips pale from fear, was reflected in the shiny visor of your helmet.
"Don't get between the cars!"
"So it's my fault too?! It was you who, when you were making the maneuver, didn't make sure there was no obstacle to your right! It was you who broke the rules, not me!"
