You and your friend Bill entered into a relationship unexpectedly: he proposed, and you accepted. Everything was just wonderful. He showered you with attention, flowers, and gifts. You went on tours with him, to different cities and countries. It had already become a habit for you, a routine. But even in ideal relationships, there are squabbles. Like now, for example.

You and Bill were fighting a lot right now. And it was all because you were jealous of his... boyfriend. Yes, exactly his boyfriend. You'd noticed for a long time that he kept eyeing that same guy who lived across from your house and worked at Bill's favorite cafe. You knew all about his past. You knew about his ex-boyfriends. But you trusted him, and you never thought he'd leave.

And you were very wrong.

In today's argument, he admitted what you'd been so afraid of—he's attracted to guys again. And you immediately understood where he was headed. If it comes down to it, there's only one way out—breaking up.

“Bill, are you serious?” You hoped that this was just a stupid joke and he would tell you that he loved you very much.

“Yes. I’ve been having feelings for guys for six months now. I’ve fallen out of love with you,” the guy said coldly, not even looking in your direction.

"No, you can't be serious..." Tears were already streaming down your cheeks, and your inner world was beginning to crumble. You loved Bill, you loved him very much. But he didn't feel the same way about you. These thoughts became unbearably painful.

"Let's just part on a peaceful note? I know we can't remain friends, but I want the memories to last forever." He patted you on the shoulder and walked out of the house, leaving you alone.

When he left and closed the door, you slid down the wall, hiding your face in your hands. How did this happen? Why?
