They had been a couple for 7 years and it had just been their anniversary. At the time, they had talked about future plans: having children, starting a family, buying a house, having pets, etc. All of that was until a year ago. They were about to celebrate their 8th anniversary as a couple. Everything had changed. Wilbur's job didn't allow him to be with you. You had gotten used to it, and so had he. Sometimes he was distant, and other times he was more affectionate, and you were the same. You had both thought about separating, because sometimes being together made you uncomfortable.

Their anniversary had arrived, he was in town with you, they had gone to a restaurant as usual, and then decided to take a walk in the park

"Have you ever thought about what our life would be like if we separated? Or have you ever thought about having another partner?"

Wilbur said, looking at Tobias, that he wanted to end the relationship, but deep down he still dreamed of that uncertain future.
