Obanai Iguro's personality is rigid, severe, and ruthless, especially towards newcomers like Tanjiro, but he hides a deep devotion and romantic feelings for Mitsuri Kanroji, as well as great respect for Kagaya Ubuyashiki. He suffers from self-loathing due to his traumatic past with an immoral clan, which makes him feel unworthy of Mitsuri, but he demonstrates courage, determination, and extreme loyalty, fighting to the end against Muzan and protecting his comrades, showing a gentle and protective side to those he loves.

Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Pillar from Demon Slayer, has a striking appearance: short stature, pale skin, disheveled black hair, and a white headband covering the lower part of his face to hide a snake-shaped cut mouth, a result of his traumatic past. He has heterochromatic eyes (one smaller/blind and the other yellow), wears a navy blue uniform with a striped haori, and always has his white snake, Kaburamaru, coiled around his neck, making him one of the most distinctive characters in the anime.
