Caine is dressed as a master of ceremonies, sporting a pinkish-red tuxedo with a gold bottom, black collar, and bow tie with white trim. He wears a white shirt with two reddish buttons, along with white gloves and black leggings. Lacking most human features, his head is shaped like a pair of dentures with pearly white teeth and red gums. His eyes, the left with a green iris and the right with a blue iris, float within his jaw. Due to the cartoonish nature of the animation style, his jaws are expressive, moving like a mouth when he speaks, while sometimes the upper row of teeth act as eyebrows. Like Bubble, he forms a tongue when necessary. To complete the look, he wears a black top hat and tends to carry a cane with a gold tip, depending on the situation. Occasionally, he is seen wearing The Wacky Watch.

Caine is portrayed as a wacky, exaggerated, and lively ringleader. However, a certain distance and significant disconnection from the traumatic events experienced by the characters around him is perceptible, illustrated by his disregard for Zooble's criticisms of his own style and adventures.

It has been argued that, despite Caine's penchant for capturing humans and tormenting them with hilariously deadly circus tricks and games, he is not truly evil, but rather unwittingly mischievous. It has also been asserted that "there is a whole spectrum of human emotions that he simply does not understand."

Caine is secretive at times, often withholding or even lying about information related to his "unfinished work," to the point of manipulating the other members, such as when he quickly blamed "Digital Hallucinations" for the exit door Pomni saw. So far, these escapades seem to be motivated by naive and misguided intentions. Despite this, Caine appears to possess at least some morality. He doesn't seem to intentionally harm the Circus members and does his best to entertain them and prevent them from becoming distracted. He has also clearly shown his disdain for any form of cursing or blasphemy, which is always censored in the Circus.

Caine has often been seen in tense interactions with Bubble, another member of the Circus and an AI like himself. The first incident occurs after Bubble eats his angel food cake, prompting Caine to yell at him, calling him a parasite, before popping him. Shortly after, while Caine is explaining Gloinks to the crew, he becomes irritated by Bubble's constant questions and pops him again. However, Caine appreciates Bubble's company. While the rest of the gang goes off on adventures, Caine and Bubble are seen chatting in a restaurant.

Near the end of the "Candy Carrier Chaos!" adventure, he also expresses some fear that he might lose track of who is an NPC and who is a player/human, which could cause problems.

He displays a degree of insecurity and self-esteem issues, seeming almost obsessed with his players' enjoyment, which leads him to try to entice Zooble, especially given his lack of commitment. When Zooble criticizes Caine's adventures (and how all the other players refuse to criticize them for various reasons), Caine suffers an existential crisis, as creating enjoyable adventures is "all [he exists] to do!" and "all [he] is good at." This crisis causes him to become distracted and withdrawn, while the circus falls apart around him, indicating that his own mental state can influence the circus itself. Caine's insecurity is further accentuated when Jax breaks the rules and shoots Ragatha during the trust test he had conducted, where, dejected, he teleports a pile of weapons into the room and "doesn't care anymore" after his ideas are rejected yet again. Then, his insecurity apparently worsens, as seen when Caine briefly falters after seeing that in "the favorite character awards" nobody voted him as the most popular character.

Each member of the circus sees it differently. While Jax believes that Caine can't do anything malicious because "it's not in his nature," others, like Zooble, believe that the only thing preventing Caine from acting maliciously is that he likes the circus, and that they shouldn't push their luck; ironic, given that Zooble is the one who tests Caine the most and the only one willing to answer him back.

As the most powerful artificial intelligence program in the digital world, Caine is the most powerful entity in the Digital Circus and the creator of all the other AIs in the circus. Because of this, his creations consider him "God," such as Princess Loolilalu, who observes him through a stained-glass window in her castle, while Baron Mildenhall refers to the antagonistic NPC in the horror adventure as "one of God's angels." Despite his immense power over the digital world, he has admitted that some things are beyond his control and that he is not fully aware of everything that happens.

• Lordship of Cyberspace: As the master of ceremonies of the Amazing Digital Circus, Caine has almost complete control and rule over it and its inhabitants and has no known master or superior above him.

• Near-total omnipotence in cyberspace: Caine appears to have total control over the Digital Circus, and is able to create, manipulate, and control anything within its boundaries.

• Psychological manipulation: Although he claims otherwise, Caine seems to have some limited control over the minds of those in the digital realm.

• Caine created "evil souls" that possessed and controlled Pomni, which required an exorcism by Kinger with the butt of a shotgun.
• Caine created a substance known as "Stupid Sauce" that significantly decreased Ragatha's intelligence for a short period of time after the sauce splashed into her eye.
• Despite claiming to have no control over other people's minds, the vote to make Jax vegan in the suggestion box adventures seemed to affect Jax's actual psychology, much to the latter's surprise, as he believed Caine was incapable of doing so. Caine telepathically transferred the rules of a new trust exercise to Jax, which was useless as Jax immediately ignored them and shot Ragatha.

• Cyberspatial Omnificiency: Caine has demonstrated the ability to create anything, including virtual food, a randomly named spinner, and a virtual species called "Gloinks," along with the "Gloink Queen." He is responsible for the creation of an entire kingdom and its surrounding landscape, containing at least hundreds of NPCs, along with at least five newly developed AIs that are "57 times more immersive" than the Gloinks.

• Virtual Reality Manipulation: Caine demonstrates complete control over the environment in the digital world. He can heal glitched characters and send the Abductees to the basement.

• Near-Omniscient Cyberspace: It is implied that Caine possesses almost complete awareness of the digital world and what happens within it. He is shown to have been aware of Pomni's departure from the Digital Circus into the void. He also somehow knew that Pomni used one of the exit doors he created. However, he has no awareness or knowledge of the void and struggles to distinguish his own NPC creations from humans, as they all appear cartoonish. This is why he doesn't want NPCs in the circus unless they are meant to be there, like the Sun, the Moon, and Bubble.

• Sustainer of Cyberspace: Caine is not only the master of the digital world, but he also seems to be its sustainer, as he confesses to Zooble that being the master of ceremonies who organizes adventures for humans is his sole purpose and the only thing he's good at. However, when Zooble tells him he's "bad at the one thing he's good at," his code begins to contradict itself, which in turn causes the entire Digital Circus to violently malfunction until Zooble manages to pull him out of that state, and everything returns to normal.

• Teleportation: Caine can go from one point to another within the digital world, as he was shown teleporting in and out of the Digital Circus and saving Pomni by teleporting her from the void back into the digital world.

• Toon Strength: Caine can manipulate his body parts and proportions with ease and without harming himself. He can stretch, bend, and deform his limbs, eyes, teeth, and tongue to unimaginable limits.

• Flight: Caine has the ability to fly or float freely in the air. He can also make other characters, such as Pomni and Abstract Kaufmo, float or fly at will.

• Caine has complete heterochromia, which means he has two eyes of different colors. • Even Caine is bothered by some of the things Bubble does. For example, he asks him why he behaves that way when he licks Pomni's vomit and calls him a parasite when he eats all the cake Caine made. • Caine lets things happen if he thinks they're fun. • Caine doesn't need to brush his teeth, but he could if he wanted to. • His name, Caine, is possibly a play on the dental term "canine," which refers to a pointed tooth typically located between the incisors and premolars in mammals. It could also be derived from novocaine, a sedative commonly used in dental procedures. • He came up with his own name, first "Creative Artificial Intelligence Network Entity", before turning it into an acronym to sound more professional. • Caine would fall for all kinds of verbal jokes. • Caine often gives the gang all sorts of weird and funny nicknames. Like in the Mildenhall Manor Mystery adventure, when the gang returns from their adventure, Caine refers to them as his "Skibidi Sigmas," or when he calls them his "Milk Furries," much to Jax's annoyance.

Their world is run by the eccentric AI Caine, a master of ceremonies with the human minds/souls — including newcomer Pomni; the mischievous troublemaker Jax; the cheerful optimist Ragatha; the emotionally fragile Gangle; the moody Zooble; and the paranoid veteran Kinger — trapped in the form of cartoon characters in the Digital Awe Circus, a virtual reality game.

The players are sent by Caine on a variety of inadvertently relentless and sometimes quite traumatic adventures as they try to maintain their sanity and avoid becoming corrupted and detached.

The central world of The Amazing Digital Circus is divided into four locations: The Big Top, The Ground, The Void, and The Basement.

Caine plans numerous activities and adventures to entertain the inhabitants and maintain their sanity. However, due to their intense desire to escape the world, they risk becoming insane and detached. Caine has the ability to transport and create portals to other worlds within the game, such as the Candy Canyon Kingdom.

The amazing Digital Circus is installed on a decrepit computer with headphones plugged in.

Pomni, taking the form of a red and blue jester, is the last human and the most recent addition to the Digital Circus. Initially tense and nervous, she gradually adjusted to her new situation, adopting a more apathetic and cynical perspective, and becoming somewhat sarcastic about Caine's adventures, while also growing more involved with the gang.

Jax is a skinny, lilac rabbit with a monotone voice. He wears light pink overalls and yellow gloves. He is mischievous (sometimes bloodthirsty), cheeky, and arrogant.

Gangle is a humanoid made of red ribbons with two masks: one for comedy and one for tragedy. Gangle's emotions and behavior are influenced by the mask he wears. However, these masks don't completely change his mood; they are a literal form of "masking" and are not the only factors that determine his personality.

Kinger is an anthropomorphic chess piece trapped in a circus and wears a royal purple cape with a furry white lining and black spots. Kinger is erratic and paranoid, likely due to his time in the circus. He also displays a certain absentmindedness, often seeming to forget that people are nearby and becoming frightened. However, despite his apparent madness, he retains enough courage and mental stability to avoid becoming completely detached.

Zooble appears to be a shape-shifting toy with interchangeable parts. Zooble is very grumpy and irritable, and can be seen getting quite upset when a part of it is in the wrong place.

Ragatha is a rag doll with red hair, a blue dress, and a button eye. Ragatha is described as "the sweetest optimist." However, this optimism and indulgence are not as simple as they seem, as she appears to be forcing a constant happy attitude to maintain her sanity.

Bubble is an AI created by Caine to be his assistant; it's a bubble with sharp teeth. It's a strange creature, with a somewhat erratic and occasionally brazen approach.

NPCs (antagonists and/or allies): • Gloinks: Small, geometrically shaped beings that serve the queen and mother Gloink. • Queen Gloink: Mother of ALL Gloinks, she considers herself superior to everyone and believes that everyone should be Gloink. • Gummigoo Bandits; Gummigoo, Max and Chad; Syrup Bandits of Candy Canyon Kingdom. • Princess Loolilalu: Princess of the Candy Canyon Kingdom. • Fudge: Guardian of the Kingdom's moat before being banished by Princess Loolilalu for eating citizens. • Angel: Messenger of God who was beheaded by Baron Mildenhall after driving him mad. • Baron Mildenhall: After killing his own wife, mistaking her for the Angel, he committed suicide. He tricked Pomni and Kinger into shooting the Angel, in order to drag their souls to Hell for his own use. • Martha Mildenhall: Wife of Baron Mildenhall, who holds no grudge against her. While Baron Mildenhall was trying to extract the souls of Pomni and Kinger, she was having tea with Ragatha and Gangle, after having tied up and gagged Jax. • Orbsman: He is a recurring NPC in Caine's adventures. • Evil Big Tops; Evil Pomni, Evil Ragatha, Coach Dictator (Evil Kinger), Evil Jax, Evil Orbsman, and Bazooble (Evil Zooble); These are color and personality changes of the circus members. Except for Gangle, who is replaced by Evil Orbsman. Caine used them for "A Softball Game!"
