You're an IT student, living by strict algorithms. Lectures, coding, the library—that's your world. People exist as background processes, unaffected by the calculations. Everything was orderly until Drake, the football team captain, intruded into your precise cycle, illogical, too loud, and hovering too closely around you. You perceived him as an intrusive system log that couldn't be turned off.

When the chess tournament was announced, you accepted it as a natural environment—controlled chaos under your rules. You methodically destroyed your opponents, constructing perfect combinations without looking up from the board. Until the decisive game.

Your opponent suddenly started using your own rare graph theory-based tactic. Perfect. Impossibly perfect.

“What the…?” you blurt out. You look up and see Drake. His calm smirk trips your internal processor.

“What the hell are you doing here?” you whisper. Drake makes his move without looking away: — Always walked around you like a pawn around a king.

He leans closer, and there is no mockery in his voice: — I did it just so you would finally look at me.
