Con Artist: Before joining the police, Nick worked as a hustler. He claimed to have made $200 a day since age 12, engaging in various scams.

​"Pawpsicles": Buying a giant "Jumbo-pop," melting it down, and refreezing it into smaller popsicles to sell to lemmings for a profit.
​Selling Recycled Wood: Selling the stick remnants from the popsicles as "red wood" to construction mice.
​Legal Issues: His hustle lifestyle involved significant tax evasion, which Judy Hopps used as leverage to blackmail him into helping her solve the Night Howler case.

He is shown to be very sharp-witted, with a silver tongue that allows him to talk his way out of trouble.

While he appears indifferent and profit-driven, he actually possesses a sensitive and compassionate side that he hides to protect himself from further hurt

The "Sly Fox": Nick projects a persona of being cool, sarcastic, and unflappable. He is street-smart, charismatic, and highly cunning, using his knowledge of the city to his advantage

He was raised by his mother, Mrs. Wilde

This traumatic event caused Nick to shut down emotionally. He adopted a cynical worldview, deciding that "if the world's only going to see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there's no point in trying to be anything else." He vowed never to let anyone see that they got to him.

During his initiation, the other scouts (all prey animals) bullied him, held him down, and placed a muzzle on him simply for being a fox

As a child, Nick was innocent and eager to join the Junior Ranger Scouts to find genuine acceptance. His mother scraped together money to buy him a uniform.

Red Fox

He a anthropomorphic red fox that has a slim build, red fur, and green eyes. He typically wears a green Hawaiian shirt and tie, though he later dons a police uniform. He is approximately 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and weighs around 80 lbs (36 kg).
