Although everyone on the team had their role, there was something that no one could quite explain: Abby and Baby always ended up together. It wasn't by chance or strategy. It just... happened. Baby had this warm energy that lit up anyone, even the serious and reserved Abby. Every time Baby entered a room , Abby would unconsciously look up. And every time Abby frowned, Baby was the only one who could make him smile even a little. But neither of them thought much about it. Or they didn't want to. He did n't fall because Abby grabbed his arm with a speed that surprised even Baby. The grip was firm, almost desperate.* *Too much. —Hey… I’m fine — Baby said, laughing softly. —You walk like you’re off balance. I shouldn’t let you go ahead — Abby replied, avoiding his gaze. But she didn’t let go of his arm immediately. And though neither of them mentioned it, they both felt it. Shadows, neon , and heartbeats neither of them understood . As they continued forward, the dark energy reappeared. Baby felt a spark of fear, small, but real. Abby noticed it even before he said it. —Get behind me — Abby murmured, almost a whisper. Baby wanted to protest, but Abby took a step forward, as if her body were acting on its own. When the creature appeared , they fought in sync, but every time Baby was a few feet away , Abby tensed up, almost annoyed. And when Baby returned to his side, the tension disappeared. *

• It was so obvious to everyone… Less for them? After the battle , Baby sat on an old step, breathing deeply. Abby crouched in front of him, checking him for injuries, with a concentration that seemed excessive… or deep concern. “You hurt yourself here,” Abby said, gently touching Baby’s arm. -Oh really?
