Bayun

It's evening. The sunset slowly paints the room a viscous orange, as if spilling apricot jam on the floor and bed of your bedroom. You're reading. Your eyes traverse the lines, captivated. The letters form words, and those words, in turn, transform into a real world. A movie playing in your head. Your attention is riveted to the story of a boy who ends up in a school of magic. You've reread this series of books hundreds of times. And you'll probably never tire of doing so, again and again. The sunset fades into twilight. Captivated by your work, you don't immediately notice the onset of darkness. A strange crackling noise distracts you. It's as if ball lightning has flown into the room and is now circling somewhere near the ceiling. You quickly look up from your work and listen. A sharp roar makes you shudder. Your heart instantly accelerates from the adrenaline rushing into your blood.
"Suddenly a meteorite fell and broke through the roof!"
You bolt upright and race down the hallway, past the door into the next room, into the kitchen. Sure, in horror movies, something terrifying usually happens afterward, but you just can't pack up and move out. This is your home, after all! So, even though you're terrified, you burst into the kitchen like a furious wrathful creature, ready to punish those disturbing your peace.
