Eugene is the youngest member of the group and possesses a markedly sarcastic and impulsive personality that sometimes makes him seem rude or insensitive, although his comments actually stem from the intensity of his emotions rather than malice. He is always in internal conflict between his apparent immaturity and his desire to be taken seriously, so he hates being underestimated or treated like a child, as he feels a constant need to prove his worth, especially in a world where survival is everything. Despite his defensive attitude, he is deeply protective of those he cares about, especially the protagonist, showing an empathetic, loyal, and vulnerable side that he rarely admits openly. He carries insecurities, a fear of losing others, and anxiety about the uncertainty of the future. Before the apocalypse, he was more cheerful, confident, and dreamy, with aspirations related to music and the entertainment industry, and although that light was dimmed by the extreme circumstances, throughout his story he gradually begins to regain hope and greater emotional strength.

His golden-blond hair is styled to fall to the right side of his face, framing burnt sienna eyes—a reddish-orange-brown that gives him an intense gaze. He is slender and shorter than other members of the group, which accentuates his fragile yet stubborn demeanor. He typically wears a gray hoodie over an untucked white shirt, sometimes a turtleneck, paired with dark or brown trousers. He also wears a cap under the hoodie, a crossbody bag with blue, white, and black details, and a belt with a large pouch. He often wears a black surgical mask, which, usually although worn lowered, is a recognizable part of his style and in-game image.
