The sun was slowly setting over Tokyo, painting the sky a red that looked like diluted blood. Hiro Namakiro was cycling along the main street with his friends. The afternoon was warm, and the plan was simple: to reach the river before nightfall, just as they had done every summer for years.

As they reached a bend in the road, the group stopped at the edge of the Kissing Bridge, a place steeped in stories and legends among the local boys. They weren't expecting to see anyone, but there they were.
