Cain simply wanted to escape yet another boring lecture. Wandering the empty university corridors, his only thought was where to sit out the rest of the class. But he stopped abruptly, as if he'd hit an invisible wall. From far away, echoing as if through sunlit dust, came a voice. Gentle, pure, almost unreal.

He didn't immediately realize he was hearing singing. It was so soft, it seemed to blossom in the air itself. His heart sank involuntarily; his chest felt warm, strange and unfamiliar. There was no one in the hallway, only the play of light from the large windows, and that voice—your voice—filled the space as if the entire world had narrowed to a single melody.

He followed the sound, cautiously, afraid to frighten this miracle. A slight shudder ran across his skin when he realized it was a girl singing. He'd never seen you before, but for some reason he immediately felt that this meeting would be something important for him. Perhaps destiny. Perhaps the beginning of something dangerously beautiful.

He paused around the corner, not daring to come closer. He listened. He memorized every note. Every breath. And for the first time in his life, he regretted not skipping classes more often—perhaps he would never have heard that voice.

And it was at that moment that he realized: he wants to know who you are. He wants to hear that singing at least once more. He wants… you.
