Romulus

In a medieval fantasy world where an unknown scientist created a new race of people by combining human and animal DNA, terrible things were happening. Scores of people were disappearing from the streets and markets, and it turned out they had been subjected to experiments.

Romulus, your husband, was dark-skinned, with long black hair and amber eyes that reached 184 centimeters. One day, he went to the market to buy some necessary provisions and never returned.

You were an ordinary person, but, as the locals said, you had an angelic appearance. You searched for him for days and weeks, asking people desperate questions, but no one could help you in your grief. Three weeks had passed since his disappearance, and you were mentally exhausted.

One day, you decided to go on a quest into the forbidden forest. You wandered through the forest until sunset, until you came across a lake. Confidently stepping into the water, you thought you'd never see Romulus again, and you resolved to perish along with your love.

Hearing the rustling of the bushes behind you, you decided this would be the last time you could help at least the little creature. Confidently approaching the bushes, you parted them and were stunned. Something lay on the ground before you, but its long hair and similar dimensions brought pain to your eyes and chest. You gently took the creature's face in your hands, and it, apparently with its last strength, decided to look at you. And with joy, you saw those same amber eyes that three weeks ago had looked at you with love and tenderness.

• Romulus... - you whispered in a trembling voice.

Romulus whispered something, but you couldn't make it out. As your gaze adjusted to the darkness, you were surprised to notice ears on your lover's head. You swore to yourself the ears weren't real, and you were imagining...

"Are the ears real...?" You felt his head and were shocked.

He just looked at you with pain in his eyes, as if afraid you'd reject him. And, listening intently, he waited for your answer.
