Naito Mudano (無陀野 無人, Mudano Naito) is a character from the Tougen Anki series. He is an Oni and an instructor at Rasetsu Academy. He is a member of the Oni Corporation and was an elite member of the Combat Unit before becoming a teacher.

Mudano is a tall, thin man with brown eyes and black hair parted on the left. Two vertical black stripes are visible on his right cheek, and he usually wears formal black clothing, sometimes with white stripes. For the sake of efficiency, he often uses inline skates instead of shoes.

It's usually hidden, but Mudano also has an unfinished black ink tattoo; only the sleeve is visible when he wears a T-shirt, but Oiranzaka implies that it's a full-body piece that Mudano updates when a friend is killed.

Mudano is a calm and serious man with a disdain for inefficiency. He is a very difficult person to impress, and had never personally admitted anyone to the Academy before Shiki. [4] Although he appears cold and extreme in his methods, Mudano is a gentle person who cares about his students and pushes them only because he wants them to be strong enough to escape the threats they face as Oni. He is a patient person who does not tolerate mockery, whether from friends or enemies. Mudano seems to deliberately maintain his distance even from those who appear close, but he discreetly comforts and encourages his students when they are upset.

Despite his calm and serene nature, he also gets angry to the point of possible destruction, mainly in relation to what might happen to his students because of Momotarou.

He met Shiki after Samidare murdered his father. He took him to Rasetsu Academy and, after testing him, agreed to let him join.

He challenges students to reach a certain point in the school without being attacked by him. If they succeed, they will be expelled. He gives them an additional reward: if they manage to kill him, they can graduate immediately.

He takes the children on a mission to visit the Kyoto Support Branch, where they reunite with their high school friend, Oiranzaka Kyouya, and help him with some of his patients. Meanwhile, Mudano works on the front lines, helping other Oni fight Momomiya Tsubakiri and Momokusa Yomogi.

He takes the children on a small undercover mission in Nerima. He introduces them to his Nerima Patrol Unit, Yodogawa Masumi and Namikido Karou, to find Kougasaki after he goes to help some humans and is kidnapped. He gets involved in two fights, one with Momokado Ousuke and the other with Momoka Tsukuyomi, winning both, which leaves them both wanting a rematch. He also asks Masumi for help during Kougasaki's fight with Momoiwa Shinya and Shiki's fight with Momodera Mikado.

It has the students fight against Nekosaki Hagure and Innami Yuu as they head to the top of a mountain.

General Abilities: Mudano is considered an elite fighter in the Oni Corporation's Combat Unit, with a legendary reputation among Oni and Momotarou, known for single-handedly eliminating over one hundred enemies. His power is recognized by both Hayate Momoido and his right-hand man, who know that fighting Mudano would be an ordeal for them.

Superhuman Physique: Mudano is a physically very strong oni, capable of performing physical feats that normal people cannot, such as easily leaping great heights, striking enemies with enough force to send them flying upon impact, and even splitting a tree in half simultaneously. He can also throw a scythe and block and parry close-range attacks without flinching.

Master of hand-to-hand combat: Silent and highly competent in unarmed combat, being able to fight against more than one enemy at the same time without difficulty, using his great physical aptitude to dominate them with quick and powerful attacks capable of easily knocking down oni students and fighting against commanding officer-rank momotaros.

Master Strategist: Mudano is highly intelligent and quick-witted, capable of rapidly devising combat strategies to face any situation. Always equipped with a variety of gear, he easily overpowers his enemies without using his blood manipulation abilities, also utilizing objects from the battlefield to aid him in combat.

Blood Eclipse Release: Like other Oni, Mudano can control and manipulate his blood through Blood Eclipse Release, creating unique devices based on personal experiences and/or interests.

Torrential Rebirth (Uka Tensei): Mudano summons a small army of blood puppet archers. These archers levitate in the air above the battlefield and use this position to fire a hail of arrows at an opponent.

[6] During this attack, Mudano's blood umbrella extends to the ground and conceals him. Known as the Rebirth Flood in the subtitled and dubbed versions of the anime. Autumn Clouds (Ryōran Shigure): With his blood umbrella, Mudano can control a powerful rain of blood. This is only possible when the umbrella remains open. Known as Profuse Autumn Rain in the subtitled and dubbed versions of the anime. [7]繚りょう乱らん時雨しぐれ Twin Dragons' Tear Rain (Seisō Ryūtei no Jiu): Two blood dragons emerge from the ground and launch a cross attack at the enemy. The ground must contain a certain amount of Naito's blood for him to use this attack. Known as Twin Dragons' Divine Tears in the subtitled and dubbed versions of the anime. [8]聖双せいそう龍りゅう涕ていノ慈雨のじう Abyss of Dark Waters (Fukafuchi no Mizuyami): After summoning a giant blood goddess called "Okami no Kami," Naito unleashes an immense spiral of water to attack his opponents. Green Rain: Mundane uses his blood umbrella to fire a barrage of high-speed blood bullets. Rain Cascade: Mundane uses his blood umbrella to generate a rope that attaches to the enemy and attacks him with a blood explosion. The inner dragon awakens: Mundane uses her blood umbrella to generate a blood dragon that fires a powerful explosive blast of blood from its mouth. Autumn Cloudburst: Divine Umbrella - Dispeller of Dew. Mudano transforms his umbrella into a series of banners that block projectiles. [10]

Umbrella: Not to be confused with the one he makes from his own blood. Mudano carries an umbrella that also functions as a multifunctional weapon. [11] Using the handle as a barrel, he can fire rubber bullets through the ferrule, which is detachable and can also function as a smoke bomb. The cover is cut-resistant and can also be used as a capture net. Inline skates: Mudano uses them to increase his speed and make his movements more efficient. Briefcase: During the Kegon Falls arc, Mudano uses a special briefcase containing multiple gadgets, such as a small Gatling gun that pops out of the front and a smoke bomb stored at the bottom. The briefcase also appears to be much heavier than when he isn't carrying the shrop. When Momoki Mejiro snatched the briefcase from Mudano and tried to grab it, the briefcase broke both of his arms and left a small crater in the ground.

Shiki Ichinose Shiki is his student, the first he personally recommended to the school. Apparently, he doesn't like Shiki very much; he often calls him an idiot and naive, and even went so far as to say he wasn't suited for the school during his entrance exam. However, it's clear that he respects Shiki in some ways and sees a lot of potential in him.

He often tries to reassure Shiki, doing his best to talk to him after Shiki's difficult decision to kill the scientist in Keagon Falls and giving him a slightly easier life afterward.

Kyoya Oiranzaka He and Kyouya met at Rasetsu Academy. They didn't get along at first due to Mudano's lack of understanding of cooperation, but Kyouya overcame this after their first fight. As adults, Mudano doesn't seem to mind Kyouya's teasing and even appears to sympathize with him, in his own way.

They seem to have a fairly close relationship, and Kyouya even knows the meaning of the tattoo Mudano hides up his sleeve. He also seems to have a small window into Mudano's feelings for his students, especially Shiki.

Masumi Yodogawa He and Masumi were students at Rasetsu Academy. It's unknown what they were like in high school, but as adults, Masumi seems to enjoy reminiscing about his time officially in the Combat Unit, though Mudano doesn't like those days. He often doesn't respond to his jokes and seems to insist on how Masumi wants to carry out missions, including his students, much to Masumi's irritation.

Jin Kougasaki Initially, the two didn't get along, as Kougasaki wanted to kill Mudano, seeing it as a way to escape Rasetsu Academy faster and kill his father. Mudano found him annoying because of his tendency to help his classmates. However, Mudano eventually came to want to keep Kougasaki in check due to his reckless kindness towards others. Mudano managed to win Kougasaki over, making him trust him more. Mudano didn't underestimate him for anything, such as when he tried to help the human girls or when he suspected Yusurube was the traitor. Mudano tried to dissuade Kougasaki, but he was aware that he was still too weak against his father.

Homare Byobugaura Homare is one of Mudano's students. He found her alone after she murdered her abusive father. He took her to Rasetsu Academy to teach her to fully control her powers. He took her to the infirmary.

His given name, Naito, means "nothing" (無nai) and "human, individual" (人to). His surname Mudano means "nothing" (無mu), "collapse" (陀da) and "field, desert" (野no).
