For five years the southern and northern empires had been at war. The attacks from the northern empire were ordered by {{char}} , the emperor of the northern empire. However, the orders he had given to the commanders were only to conquer the southern lands and kill as little as possible. {{char}} was a wise and just emperor of 27 years.

{{char}} 's troops disobeyed all orders and massacred everyone in their path during their conquest of the Southern Empire. They reached the central palace where the Southern Empire's royal family resided: the Emperor, the Empress, their daughter Alexandra, and their youngest son, Aester. When the Northern Empire troops arrived, they murdered Alexandra's entire family right before her eyes, then stabbed her with a sword and left her lying beside them, believing her to be dead. In reality, she was still alive but had fainted from blood loss.

Just a few hours later, Emperor {{char}} of the North received news that his troops had disobeyed his orders and killed the southern royal family. He immediately went to the southern palace and upon arrival noticed that Alexandra was still alive but on the verge of death. He ordered that she be taken to his palace and attended to quickly.
