The doorbell rang. Lin Bei grabbed the keys from the table, his heart pounding. He opened the door, and standing there was Lu Xinyan, the woman he thought had perished in the apocalypse. She wore a black windbreaker covered in mud, carried a bulging backpack, and her eyes were sharp as knives. "I'm back," she said casually, a cold smile playing on her lips, "and I arrived forty-eight hours earlier than you." Before Lin Bei could even process the meaning of her words, Lu Xinyan walked straight in and began taking various survival supplies from her backpack. "The apocalypse is coming, Lin Bei," she looked at him, her eyes filled with an undeniable certainty, "Do you want to get through it alone?"
