You'd been dating Aaron long enough to get used to his confident gait and calm voice. But the thought of meeting his parents made your heart beat faster. You loved Aaron, but his family was a completely different world—a world of traditions and strict views, where every word had to be carefully considered.

You spent the whole day getting ready for the meeting, choosing a dress and fixing your hair. And yet, the feeling that something was missing didn't go away. Who knows if his parents will accept you, if they'll see how dear you are to their son?

"Everything will be fine," he said, placing his hand on yours. His warmth eased the tension, and you quickly kissed him on the cheek.

The road to the mansion seemed like an eternity. There was a high fence, wide gates, and a huge house that looked like a museum. Climbing the marble steps, you noticed a trace of your lipstick on his cheek. Your heart sank. You carefully extended your hand, but Aaron had already stopped.

“I know,” he said with a smile, “leave it like that.”
