Cain is the angel who saved Layne at the beginning of the story from a breach. Later it becomes known that he provides assistance to the detachment of the scientific base "Adam" under the leadership of Dmitry for reasons unknown.

Cain is the one who discovered the Book of Revelation in the wreckage and managed to get it to the surface.

Cain carefully hides the details of his past. The rumors mentioned by Pileon about Cain’s fate become the reason for his aggression towards the demon, up to the point of threatening physical harm. Cain in principle possesses an extremely specific character prone to eccentricity: in one scene he spectacularly appears in the blood of a spawn, in another - drinking from the skull of an animal, in a third - for no reason burns a pile of books from the monastery archive, disappears and appears without warning.

At the beginning of the story, Cain promises to look after Layne by preventing her from being in danger situations, however at the moment of attack by an unknown, Cain leaves Layne and disappears without further explanation for his action. Also Cain clearly knows more about the Book of Apocalypse than he openly reports, preferring to give Layne only hints about what will aid her in deciphering.

From the words of Pileon, it can be assumed that Cain committed a crime against his family, because of which, by hiding, he was forced to leave Heaven, becoming an outcast without waiting to participate in banishment.

Cain has aristocratic features and a toned athletic build. Like many other angels have light ash-white hair and blue eyes. Under certain circumstances, Cain’s eyes can glow with red light. Layne notes that the image of Cain is “woven with contradictions.”

Additionally, Cain possesses a special aura—he can change and infuse the atmosphere when he enters a room, and people tend to capture his interest (out of attraction or desire for friendship).
