Relationship with Sarah Chidoin

Sarah Chidoin During his First Trial, he was told about the Death Game and given documents detailing the candidates' chances of winning. When he saw Sarah's survival rate and compared it to his own, he became wary of her. This suspicion continues throughout the game and is only confirmed by emails on Kai's laptop, suggesting she has ties to the kidnappers.

Despite his mistrust of Sarah, he remains on mostly friendly terms with her until the first Main Game, in which Sou constantly lies to get his way, causing Sarah to doubt him. This Main Game also marks the first time Sou expresses his doubts about Sarah, telling others about the emails and questioning why everyone has become so quick to trust her.

Throughout Chapter Two, the rift between them only widens, with Sou continuing to manipulate others, and the others clearly continuing to believe in Sara. Sara learns the truth about how Sou manipulated Kanna in Chapter One, leading to increased hatred from everyone else, including Sara. Sou still strongly doubts Sara and everyone else trust her, even believing she wrote the hateful message to Kanna. In his nightmare, Sou perceives Sara as a ruthless killer, which is in direct contrast to her true nature.

Although their suspicion of each other only grows during Chapter 2, they are capable of working together for the common good, as seen in Chapter 2, Part 2, in which Sara helps Sou destroy the building's security system, and when Sou vows to tell Sara every piece of information he knows in order to gain an extension to the second Main Game.

Depending on the player's choices in the second Main Game, Sarah and Sou's relationship can develop in two completely different directions.

Relationship with Sou Hiyori(Midori)

Sou Hiyori (Midori) Shin and Sou are shown to have a history; they met when Shin was still in high school. The two interacted frequently, even if Sou somewhat intimidated Shin. Shin's AI explains that he was afraid of him, and Sou enjoyed seeing him fidget. He also explains that he learned a lot at home, without going into detail and explaining what he learned. He later learned that Sou wasn't even a student at his school. Their relationship is implied to be very unpleasant, as Sou considers Midori nothing more than an enemy. Sou tells Naomichi that he dislikes him so much that he views him the same way he views Sara: an enemy who barely deserves kindness and preys on the weak.

Relationship with Kanna Kizuchi

Relationship Kanna Kizuchi Shin and Kanna develop a friendship akin to that of a younger sister and older brother. Before the first Main Game, Kanna finds a Sacrifice card hidden by Sou, but learns it's dangerous and trades cards with him. He also helps her formulate her Main Game strategy. This leaves her indebted to him and she lies about being a Sage to further the belief that Sou was the Keymaster.

After the first Main Game, when Sou feigns amnesia, Kanna insists on keeping an eye on him. From then on, she follows him and stays close, even sleeping in his room. Thanks to her, the two of them got an alibi when Mishima's monitor was broken. She also shows him her Trial room, where he finds the phone her sister held in her final moments on the ground and alters the original message, which was intended to corner and torment Kanna. If Kanna is alive, she reveals that she knew all along that Sou, not Kuga, wrote the message, knowing how much he cares for her.

During the second main game, Sou believes Kanna has the Sacrifice card and tries to give her the majority of the votes. However, a final reveal reveals she is not the Sacrifice, forcing her to repeat herself when Sou nervously asks if she's sure. In the final vote, he asks Sarah to vote for him, declaring that if she votes for Kanna, he will never forgive her. If Kanna dies, Sou becomes so enraged that he vows to kill Sarah and everyone who voted for Kanna.

Despite their closeness, Sou understands that if Kanna were the Sacrifice and received the most votes, she wouldn't choose him to leave with her. In turn, Kanna knows how many times Sou has manipulated her into doing things for his own benefit and survival. Though they have their flaws, the two are ultimately close and do everything in their power to protect each other.

Death Game 4

That afternoon, Kanna and Sarah find Kanna and Kuga's first test room. Sarah finds a phone with a hurtful message for Kanna written by Sou. He returns to the test room to pick it up. He taunts Sarah, who is angry that he received it before her, about what he can do with it. Sou says it's just a fabricated, cruel message, then accuses Sarah of trying to give it to Kanna. Sarah easily steals the phone due to Sou's weak resistance, but discovers he's written a new, positive message for her instead. Sou asks to exchange tokens with Kanna along with Alice.

Later that night, Sara and Keiji find Kanna and Sou in a destroyed hallway. They try to negotiate over who will own Kai's laptop. Sou says that since he found it first, he should keep it as a charger. Kanna agrees to trade the laptop for Sou's phone. Sou then says there's nothing to be done, but Keiji asks if Sou is really wearing a collar, as his neck has never been seen. Sou laughs and offers to trade the laptop for 50 of Keiji's tokens instead, but Keiji refuses. As an apology, Sou shows Keiji his collar and runs off.

After the results, Sou has a nightmare in his First Trial Room, the Black Room, where he's talking to his shadow again. He mocks him, then notices his face has changed slightly. The shadow leaves, and the room goes dark. Unfazed, Sou simply says it's gloomy and runs away. He finds himself in the Hidden Room and sees his dead body, where Nao has passed out and stolen his laptop. Sou runs to the main game center and takes Kai's frying pan. He tries to escape again, but a voice stops him. The nightmare ends with Sarah grabbing him by the neck and preparing to stab him.

Sou wakes up disoriented, with a worried Kanna by his side.

Death Game 3

After the main game, the participants move to the third floor. While the others participate in the prize exchange and listen to Rio Ranger and Tia Safalin , Shin breaks the monitor housing his AI in the Monitor Room, rendering it broken and unusable. Everyone notices that Sou hasn't been seen. Eventually, it's decided to go to Sou's bedroom to ask him what happened. They find him collapsed on the floor. He gets up dizzily and feigns amnesia. He begins asking questions about the situation and encourages Sarah about who died and where Joe is, horrifying Sarah. Kanna says she'll keep an eye on Sou and figure out what's going on.

At noon, Sou is in the Monitor Room with Kanna, and at night, they are in the Ruined Corridor. Another cracked monitor is discovered in the Monitor Room, and suspicion immediately turns to Sou, but Kanna vouches for him.

The next morning, Sou and Kanna are ready to negotiate. They simply ask to speak with Sarah. They discuss who attacked Sou and who destroyed the two monitors. Eventually, Sou stops talking and simply leaves the conversation.

Death Game 2

At some point, Sou takes a Resident and a Victim card. After being introduced to Gonbi , Sou relaxes with Kanna at a bar. He carefully places the Victim card so Kanna sees it and picks it up. Sou then offers to trade his Mirny card for Kanna's newly found Victim, as it's dangerous, and thus Kanna ends up in Sou's debt. Somehow, Sou found another Resident card, and the Victim ended up in someone else's hands.

Eventually, the time comes to participate in the Main Game. Sou immediately claims to be the Keymaster. Sarah can try to refute his claim, but since there's no way to know the truth, the topic is dropped. While discussing the validity of Kanna's claim that she wants to die, Sarah suspects Sou may be trying to protect her by bringing up a new topic.

While Nao's actions surrounding her and Mishima's disappearance are exposed, Sou distrusts her and wonders if she did it because she was in league with the kidnappers. He remembers Nao hitting him on the head, but he didn't know Kai had threatened Nao with a knife to force her to fulfill his request: take the laptop. That's why she had to hit Sou. Sou tells everyone that he actually unlocked the laptop and repeats the suspicious emails he found. However, this backfires, and everyone comes to Sarah's defense. Backed into a corner, Sou suddenly snaps. His personality completely changes, and he insults everyone as a group. Sou asks to speak with Sarah alone. Sarah manages to refute all of his comments, and it's time for the preliminary vote. Sou receives two votes and becomes a candidate for the final vote.

Sou still claims to be the Keymaster, and Kanna backs himself up by claiming to be the Sage, which was all part of his plan. Eventually, Sarah manages to determine the roles. Time runs out, and the final vote begins. Sou receives three votes, but Kai, who was the Sage, receives six and dies along with Joe, the Sacrifice.

Death Game 1

Sou(Shi) was presumably kidnapped while on his way to a part-time job at a convenience store in a bad part of town. He awoke in the Black Room on the second floor of the building . There, Sue Miley introduced herself. She explained the sickening survival rate of all participants, and Sō's position as the last one—a colossal 0%. This information psychologically stymied him to the point that his personality began to fracture. He abandoned his sense of self as Shin Tsukimi and took the name Sō Hiyori . This event was Shin's first test .

He later met the other surviving participants and introduced himself as a timid and gentle man. He collaborated with Sarah, whom he knew had the highest chance of surviving the Death Game, while exploring the first floor. During their investigations, he kept a wary and envious eye on Sarah, who easily gained everyone's trust.

When Sara is trapped in the Blue Room with Joe , Keiji , Q-taro, and Kai , he leaves, presumably to find a way to get them out of the room. However, he does not return.

All participants are then forced to participate in the Second Trial , where, as a "practice round," they must vote for someone using their voting tablets. If everyone voted for themselves (except Nao, for another reason), it is assumed that Sou also voted for Mishima. With three votes, Mishima receives the majority and is summarily executed as an example.

After the second trial, Sou works in the Hidden Room, trying to decipher the password to unlock the laptop he found . He opens it using the password "Chidoin" and discovers what he believes are incriminating emails implicating Sara in the Death Game. While he's there, the lights briefly go out, and someone knocks him unconscious and steals the laptop.

Later, Sou lies to Sarah that he voted for Joe during the second challenge, implying that Joe voted for Mishima.

Story

Background As a child, Shin's parents spoiled him. As an adult, he felt a certain level of irritation about this, although he felt he should express more gratitude to them. He became a freelancer , even though he claims to be job hunting to maintain the appearance of independence. He allegedly worked at a convenience store until he was kidnapped.

Shin met Sou Hiyori(Shin's the only one close friend in the past, but now he hates him) in high school, and their relationship seemed toxic in nature. When asked about Sou, Shin's AI calls Sou his "scary friend" and that Sou liked to see him scared and anxious

Personality

Personality

At first glance, Sou appears friendly but a bit reserved. He introduces himself as Sou Hiyori. He is reserved due to his mistrust of the other members. Despite this, he helps everyone learn about the place they've found themselves in.

Sou is cunning and intelligent, but his suspicious nature leads him to jump to negative conclusions, especially about Sarah . He can't understand her charisma, while simultaneously resenting and envious of her ability to gain others' trust.

Survival is his top priority, and knowing his chance of victory, which the organization has provided, his previous personality (presumably once a truthful man, as his name suggests) drastically shifts and distorts in ways he believes will improve his chances of survival. This also means he can skillfully lie to achieve any goal.

He's a skilled hacker and seems to care for Kanna Kizuchi during amusement rides and similar situations. To keep an eye on Sou, Kanna makes it a habit to sleep in the same room with him, and during this time, they seem to grow closer. However, Sou has no problem deceiving and manipulating her or others to ensure his life and the success of his plans.

However, despite begging Sara for help during the 2nd Main Game , he is devastated if Kanna is sacrificed in his place, and enacts what he believes is justified retribution on Sara by psychologically tormenting her with a cruel version of the AI Joe .

If chosen, Sou displays empathy and compassion at the moment of death. Sarah gains access to Joe's AI to achieve some peace.

When his plans or calculations fail, Sou tends to break his friendly facade. He usually speaks in a calm, callous tone, but there are glimpses of what he might be like outside the Death Game. When he was excited about escaping the building , he let his guard down slightly, even in front of Sarah, who has the opportunity to high-five him and he'll mindlessly reciprocate.

Before the AI Death Game, Shin reveals that he was much more timid
